Yet another How Do I...change a leagues future
Ive been scanning the board topics and cant find one that address what I want to do, even thought Im sure its there. In short, I want to pick up play at some point in time, but once I start playing the game, then baseballs entire future is unwritten and will be replaced by the "new" future that is created in the game. For example, if I want to see what would happen in 1967 if Tony Conigliaro did not get hit in the head, what kind of career would he have had. Also, that any real-life trades, retirements, or other career changing or ending injuries would not happen. How would I create this league and what settings would I need.Since Tony C was hit in 1967, I assume that is the year I would take over the Red Sox and start my "universe".After that I don't know what to do.Also not sure what to do with the draft. Im concerned if I let the game do the draft, then Id have a huge advantage since I know who the best players will be. So is there a way to have the only real-life part of the game be that players get added to the teams that did draft them in real-life?

The game plays much as you describe without much effort, so I am not sure what you are asking. The game does not replicate real life in terms of game results and stats, no matter what settings you use. There is a random number generator involved.
Real-life transactions will not happen unless you check the box for them when you create the league. Real-life retirements and missed seasons will not happen unless you check the box for them when you create the league. If you have no draft and do not check the box for rookies to be imported as free agents, they will appear on the same team on which they made their major league debut. If you use historical minors, the first set of minor leaguers will include some future rookies on their correct minor league teams. In subsequent years, the game will continue placing them in the correct organizations. (This might confuse you, because Nellie Fox will be on the Athletics not the White Sox.) Yes, you know who the best players will be. However, you don't know how they will perform. For even more "fog of war", do not select "recalculate ratings based on actual results after each season". This will import the player with a development curve roughly based on his real life results, but he will be subject to the whims of the development engine after that. Willie Mays will likely be a star, but he might not be Willie Mays. Instead, Bobby Bonds might be Willie Mays. |

Im not asking or talking about stats the players generate matching or that teams win or lose as they did in real life. For example, when I tired earlier, I started the 1967 season and simmed that season. I thought I selected the options that would create the world I wanted, but cant recall what they were. I then went into the next season. In 1968, Tony C was not in the game. As was in real-life. So what I am asking is how do I start a league (ie, what do I check/not check) so that anything that happened in real-life in future years is erased. In this case, so that Tony C will be on the Red Sox roster in 1968.

I think you want to uncheck the box that says "retires according to history".

This game is great. But there is so much and the create wizard has so many options there are many ways to great a league. I guess what I really need is to screenshot showing what I need to select on each step.

I can't do the screen shot thing but if you look through other posts in this thread or others you will see screen shots. Just take your time, I found using the manual helps explain things, you probably will have to try many times before you get your league the way you want it to play. This game has incredible depth and options; good luck it's your game play it your way......
