Worst to First
This will be a dynasty where I take whatever team has the worst record and build them up to win a World Series. Once I win a World Series, I will then take over whatever team has the worst record in the game and attempt to do the same. Some ground rules will be mostly philosophical, i.e. do not project which team will be my next management position and stock them with prospects from my current team and do not financially or talent cripple the team I run for the sake of short term gain. I will try to run each team realistically and with care. This will be ran on Challenge Mode with scouting and coaches on.
2016's worst team: Minnesota Twins (59-103) Years in Control: 0 Owner: Jim Pohlad Jim wants us to play close to .500 ball this season, but did he watch last year? He's wants us to upgrade in left field this season, acquire a nationally popular and marketable player by 2019, and extend Brian Dozier by 2019. He also wants the club in the playoffs by 2021. Four-year plan, it is. Assistant GM: Thad Levine I came away from my meeting with Thad thinking he really wanted a team full of OBP guys with more speed than power. He said he was willing to sacrifice some defense in order to do that. The largest take away I had was that he really, deeply favored getting some pitching. He is on a four-year deal, so hopefully we get along. Manager: Paul Molitor Paul is a legend and he seems to have a very futuristic approach to managing. He loves shifts, pinch hitting, and splits. He will allow starters and relivers to pitch longer and out of jams. Offensively, he is not afraid to lay down a sacrifice, but other than that he is pretty normal. Three year deal and I think we will get along great. Other Coaches: Joe Vavra (Bench, 2018), Neil Allen (Pitching, 2018), James Rowan (Hitting, 2018) Scouting Director: Deron Johnson Dude has been doing this for 23 years and is good in all aspects of the job. He should be very helpful in finding us talent, especially in the draft. Three years on his deal and happy to have him. Team Trainer: Dave Pruemer A prevention guru, we should avoid a lot of injuries with Dave. The guys might take a little while to come back if they do get hurt, but not getting hurt in the first place is great. Three years for a fine Doc. 2016 Minor League System Ranking: 23rd Prospects in Top 100: SS W. Javier (36), P F. Romero (72), RF A. Kirilloff (74) This is pretty sad considering the team hasn't been over .500 much in the past five or six seasons. However, I understand that a few guys have just lost prospect status that would have made the list. We have some work to do and we have high draft picks to do it. Budget: $120,000,000 Player Payroll: $99,085,775 Staff Payroll: $6,302,000 Scouting: $4,000,000 Development: $6,000,000 Draft Budget: $12,710,000 Intl Amatuer Budget: $3,750,000 Room in Budget: -$12,177,775 Our current scouting and development budgets are half what I want, which means I could be tasked with cutting close to $25,000,000 in payroll just to have what I need. Now what I expected from a Twins organization I always thought was thrifty. Up Next: Roster and Preseason Moves Last edited by gingerchizu; 03-26-2017 at 06:11 AM. |
