Game Crashing on Launch
I discussed this in the main forum, realized it should go here. I've attached the trace log.
Just a little further information, the trace log warning window does pop up and if I do so quickly enough I am able to interact with that window. But the game crashes shortly thereafter.

Update, I added OOTP 18 to the list of apps allowed through the Windows firewall. No change.

I am having this same issue. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling. Re-downloading. Updating windows. Closing all other windows. Running as admin. Installing as admin. Nothing has worked thus far.

Sorry to hear that, but at the same time relieved I'm not alone with this issue.

I'm going to keep posting info so hopefully something helps.
I could not install using the uninstall executable in the program folder. ![]() I was able to uninstall through my control panel (which I probably should have done to begin with). I reinstalled as administrator. First issue I noticed is that the C++ update install happened again. That shouldn't have to run a second time, should it? After installation the same issue is happening. |

So that C++ reinstallation made me think there might be a problem there. Went to Microsoft, downloaded that file, it gave me Repair and Uninstall options (so it was there). I ran the repair option, then tried OOTP 18 again. Still no luck.

Oh yeah. I'm having that C++ issue as well. That must have something to do with it then...

Not sure if this is the right place. After setting my teams and league options, I got to the main game screen and once I clicked save it crashed, however, that was first launch and have not had the issue since.

Rebooted in safe mode. This window popped up (I hope this is getting closer to the issue)
![]() Then this window popped up, but I think this might have to do with being in Safe Mode? ![]() Then I was able to proceed until I couldn't activate the license because I was in Safe Mode, not Safe Mode with networking. I'm going to try to figure out how to have Safe Mode with networking (never done it before). |

Rebooted in Safe Mode with Networking, it now appears that the game is running successfully after license activation. I'm currently importing an OOTP17 saved game, but there have been no crashes or issues so far.
My guess is that the sound issue pasted above is causing the crash when not in Safe Mode. I have to run some errands for a while but I will keep working on this when I get back. Last edited by Huckleberry; 03-20-2017 at 06:33 PM. |

I believe this is happening (at least for me) because my computer is missing file vcomp100.DLL. I have tried numerous ways to restore this file but so far have not been able to figure it out.
This is related to the C++ runtime issue. |

Okay, this is weird. If I wait for the initial loading to happen and then click on one of the main menu buttons (I've been clicking on Continue Game) real fast before it crashes on the main menu it will actually load the game. But then it crashes once the game loads.
It's almost like it crashes once it has to sit there thinking but not doing anything for a second. |

I enabled trace_log in the app.cfg file and then went in and did the quickly hit the continue game button thing. Here's the text file from that effort.

One thing I think I noticed is that the Login/Register menu for challenge mode does not appear unless I'm in Safe Mode. Basically I don't think I've seen it during the crashes in normal mode.
Not absolutely 100% sure and won't be able to check until this evening. I left for work so I'm now limited to accessing the computer from there. I booted it in Safe Mode with Networking so I'll have access, but I can only reboot normally once to get back in. If I reboot in Safe Mode I won't have access until I get back to it. |

Well shoot, just saw this, didn't even notice it when making my last post. I have now driven to work, so I rebooted my machine remotely and I'll try this momentarily assuming it lets me back in. That seems to be a 50/50 proposition after a remote reboot.
