I would want to eat lunch with Nolan Ryan.

No questions asked George Steinbrenner. I pick him just so I could spend a million bux on the food.. and then convince him to buy the restuarant that we go to, because it will be a good way to use his money. Just like it was a good way to use money trading for Jessie Orosco and then trading him a month later. After you realizing he is probably going to die soon.

Now player I'd like to have dinner with would be Derek Jeter. He seems like a cool guy and seems very down to earth. Plus, you know a million girls would be around him, and that never hurts.

I'd have to say Cecil Fielder so that I'd see if he could eat everything mentioned in the Lunch thread -- in one sitting. 3-1 says he can.
In all honesty? My dad once brought me to a charity thing where he paid $200 so that he and I could eat with, among other Red Sox, Mo Vaughn and John Valentin. As I was on of the only kids there (this was about 6-8 years ago), I was seated next to Big Mo, and he was the nicest guy. I ate dinner with Roger Clemens in Subway in New Hampshire when I was 7, though, and he was nothing but great to me. I've forgiven him completely, and even for a fleeting moment considered becoming a Blue Jays fan in 1996... but have never considered becoming a Yankee fan. If I could have lunch with anyone connected with sports, it would probably be Bill James or maybe Bill Simmons. Anyone in history, it would have to be JFK, Teddy Ballgame, Sam Adams, and Russell, the Bengali guy who owns the local Kwik-E-Mart equivalent... because he's awesome.

I would love to eat lunch with Barry Bonds. If it could be him, Pete Rose and Turk Wendell I don't think lunch would ever end.

I guess it would depend what I felt like eating:
*If it were a 15 lb. burger I'd say Moo Vaughn, although I wouldn't get any of it. *If it were country cookin' I would John Rocker just to see what he'd say to the waiter/waitress. *If it were oriental food, I would like to hang with Ichiro. *If it were Mexican food, I would not hang out with Jose Lima. *If it were Italian, it would be Mike Piazza - although I'd sit across the room. *If it were just me and a few baseball guys hanging out drinking some juice, it'd be Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Jose Canseco. |

Damnit. I read like half of them when I realized that this was an old thread. It was when I saw Specs avatar I realized it...I was gonna make fun of whoever said Ted Williams since it would be hard to eat a lunch with him today.

Maybe he posts here. That would kick ass. He always has been one of my favorite active pitchers.
