Travel Posters as Team Logos
This is a bit esoteric, but hopefully someone else can get some use out of it.
A combination of the World Baseball Classic and the new tournament feature in OOTP18 had me looking for updated national team logos. However, I noticed that most of them resemble the ones OOTP uses for the small logos rather than primary logos (single-letter abbreviations and the like). I considered using either flags or the federation logos for primaries instead, but wasn't satisfied with them. Somehow or other I got the idea to use old travel posters for primaries, finding them more interesting visually. I almost always opt for realism with logos, so this a departure for me. I hope to do ones for all of the major baseball nations, but I do not know if I'll have enough free time for them. I might start doing ones for US cities as well, but no promises on that. They're all sized as 300x300 (I think OOTP autosizes them down to 150x150 at that size when you import, correct me if I'm wrong though) to make it easier for others to edit if they don't like something about them. |

Bullet train + Mt. Fuji + Cherry blossoms = Japan in my mind.

South Korea
Some nations were not tourist destinations during the era of travel posters, so finding some images for them has proved difficult. South Korea is a great example, but I'm reasonably okay with what I've found, even if it's more Seoul than South Korea.
Option 1 is with the tower colored cyan and bright red with white lettering. Option 2 adds the blue Korea uses for their uniforms to the lettering for those who want a more direct connection between logo and team color. Option 3 recolors the tower to match Korea's flag. Chinese Taipei
Taiwan / Chinese Taipei was problematic as well, but I think this one works okay. I addedd Chinese Taipei's WBC wordmark, updated with their new color scheme.

United States
I would rather have had a travel poster of the Statue of Liberty for the USA, but could not find one that I liked (they were too low-res or had other New York landmarks that made it look more like a New York logo than a USA one). Instead, I went with one with D.C. landmarks.

Mexico
I inserted Mexico's WBC wordmark (of which I'm a fan) at the top of this one, but I'm not sure I like how its colors work with the poster itself.

Venezuela
This has been the hardest one so far. The only travel posters I found for Venezuela were either too low quality to be of much use or were fan-created posters for the movie UP (which looked great, but not quite what I had in mind). Instead, here's this, all landmarks from the city of Maracaibo.
Option 1 is with Venezuela's new wordmark color scheme. Option 2 is with the old one, since I don't rate my graphic design skills as high as whoever did this one for sportslogos. |

USA, redux
Here's another for the United States that I prefer to the one posted above. It is from a series artist Dan Reisinger did for Israel's El Al airlines in the '70s. Hopefully lots more to come from this series.
Option one is against a gray background, option two is transparent. I'll try to clean up the transparent one tomorrow. Edit: Transparent one has been edited. Last edited by Phantom Player; 03-16-2017 at 03:37 PM. |

Canada from the Reisinger series.
Edit: Cleaned up the logos a bit, removing the the part of the Mountie's arm that formed an 'A' in the orignal ad. Last edited by Phantom Player; 03-16-2017 at 11:14 PM. |

South Africa
This one is originally a poster for Africa rather than any particular nation. But, the only African country that plays in big international baseball tournaments is South Africa and some giraffes live there, so I decided to repurpose it to use as South Africa's logo.
I used South Africa's full name instead of its abbreviation because the logo looked a little thin with only a giraffe's neck and three letters. |
