Longest playoff droughts in your leagues?
At long last, the Arizona Sidewinders have made the playoffs! They were the last of the league's original 16 teams from the 1980 inaugural season to get there. The league now has 20 teams...and three of those four expansion teams have at least one championship by now! Jacksonville, a 1996 expansion club, is now the only team with no playoff appearances...in fact, they only have one winning season, and that was 82-80!
Anyway, congrats to the Snakes. Only took 'em 33 seasons, coming close to the record for most years wandering in the desert, established by Moses a long time ago. ![]() ![]() Of course, they promptly got swept by Seattle in the opening round. Oh, well, fun while it lasted, I guess! So, have you had any teams with a longer playoff drought? |

I believe I ran an overnight, 100 year sim where a club only made the postseason six times. Four of which were consecutive, including a drought of 47 years.

Mine are definitely not as "impressive" as yours, but I put the top two teams in each 8 team subleague into the postseason. This is a random debut historical that has run for 49 seasons now. The Brooklyn Dodgers have missed the last 18 straight postseasons, the Indians have missed the last 12 straight, and the Cubs have missed the last ten straight.
In terms of current championship droughts, the Cardinals have the longest one at 40 years. The Red Sox are next longest at 34 years, and the Cubs are next longest at 30 years. Finally, it took three teams at least 40 years to win their first championship in franchise history. All the franchises in MLB now have at least one now following year 49. The Braves took 45 years to win their first, the White Sox 43, and the Browns took 40 and then reeled off 4 in eight seasons (including the first one). There are two teams in my Metro Leagues that have yet to make the postseason. They are the Newport Patriarchs and the Braxton Bruins. Both were part of a four team expansion that occurred in 1935. The league is currently playing out the 1953 season.

This is the worst team in my old league
![]() they didn't have a winning season for 28 years, and the only reason they got into the playoffs before that is because their division sucked |

Looks like I'm not the only one playing the Daniel Saline USBL setup. Cool.
