OOTP 18's Perfect Team Digital Cover Vote

Sports games usually tend to only have one cover athlete, but we know that sports aren't about just one player. For Out of the Park Baseball 18 we wanted a cover that represents what is important, and that is the team, over the individual. But we need your help.

For the first time in OOTP history we'll be featuring players and a manager on our digital cover of the game. We need you to help pick them. We matched up pairs of players at every position, including manger, and we need your votes to determine the Perfect Team to be on OOTP 18's Digital Cover.

Places your vote at - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DMP9ZDP

On March 15, I will live stream the winning team announcement. On launch week, I'll live stream a game pitting the winners of the contest against the runners-up. All of these events will take place live on Out of the Park Developments Twitch channel, and will be archived to the Out of the Park Developments YouTube page for later viewing.

Maddon's managing in the World Series was historically bad. Never seen an experienced guy manage a closer so poorly. Boch is the way to go on that vote. 3 rings. Case closed.

Cover should look wonderful.

How were these match-ups determined? Some of these are...interesting? How do you not have Trout as a consideration but some one like (no offense) Mazara is. And I am even a Rangers fan.

Perhaps Trout is automatic, and will be included no matter the vote. The odd ones, like Turner or Sanchez, are for diversity, I assume.

We had a list of players we could choose from, a lot of guys were not available to be used

We also tried to get as many guys as possible from different teams.

In the end a lot of time and effort and thought went into the players chosen, and I think they're about as good a list as we could have given all the circumstances.

I would go with whichever pair has the best looking FaceGens. Not all FGs are equal, simply because not all player pictures translate well into FGs. Use the prettiest.

This is off topic, but are those the v18 default baseball cards? If i not, can we make that one available in the mods? i like the simple look.

It could be argued that Bochy's bullpen management is what cost the Giants the NLDS against the Cubs, so that is a strange item to build your case around. I agree that some of Maddon's World Series decisions were indefensible, but that doesn't negate his performance over the entire season, which led to his team being in the World Series. Both Maddon and Bochy are excellent managers, but I give the nod to Maddon based on the historic significance of the Cubs winning the World Series.

Giants hadn't won a title in San Francisco history until 2010, so Boch definitely also has accomplished historical feats. And I don't believe Boch lost SF the NLDS. No manager could've won that game with that pen. Those who argue that Moore should've been kept in are straight up wrong. Moore threw the most pitches in a single game during the entire 2016 postseason and had past arm trouble. Leaving him in would put a player's health at risk. Whether he kept Law, Romo, or Lopez in another batter wouldn't have mattered - the Giants didn't have enough to win.

The Cubs had a far better team than any of San Francisco's 3 wins. I personally think it takes more in a manager to win a ring with a good team, than with a great team. Maddon is good, but I would take Bochy over Maddon any day.

As Lukas said, there are players that sign individual deals with certain brands and, because of that, other things in the same space can't use them.

For example, you wouldn't see Mike Trout be the pitch man for Coke and Pepsi at the same time.

Makes sense. Didn't think about the licensing angle. Thanks!

I like this design too. The original card designs are really not that good, and this would be a nice addition.

PS: Please add position to future card designs AND team logo????

Given the historical aspect of OOTP AND the introduction of the Negro leagues, it's a shame we couldn't get a sprinkling of baseball legends in there too.

This would be really cool, however, for something like that, we'd need to sign each of them (or their estate) individually to licensing agreements.

In theory, since historical players have facegens, couldn't we just edit the interface to include someones facegen over the ones selected?

I have never looked into editing the interface opening screen but I have seen custom ones before.
