Rolling/uninterupted play
It’s been a few years since I’ve played but I wanted to check on a feature I don’t believe the game has ever had.
Back in my old Earl Weaver/Tony LaRussa/High Heat days, I would manage games and could just let the slowly roll out in front of me and only stop it when I felt I needed to. Typically I was just a spectator for the first five-ish innings. I know there’s a good innings skip feature and a one-pitch mode, but I couldn’t figure out a way to have the game play out while I watched. Does this make sense? Does anyone know if this exists in OOTP? Thanks. |

There is a pause after each play checkbox. If that is off, you can watch straight through.

What happened in Tony LaRussa and Earl Weaver - and what I think the OP is referring to is - even if you were in complete control, the action/play by play would tick along automatically, and you would have the option to step in whenever needed to input strategy or make a change. You wouldn't have to constantly tap a key to see the results of the next play. Now with the addition of 3D animation, IMHO, I think it would be a nice feature if the action would play out automatically, and there would be a base delay between plays that would allow you to input a decision or make a change. |

You could give all controls to the AI, then watch the game without the pause after play button checked, and then when you want to take over, switch back to manual controls and play out the parts that you want.

How about this? - Have the check box to auto play always be an option, regardless of who has managerial control, whether it's you or the AI - "Hot key" autoplay to a key like the spacebar. That way, if you're in autoplay and you want to make a change, you hit the hotkey to quickly step in to turn it off, you then can make the change/strategy decision, then hit the hotkey to get back to auto. Boom. Done. This is all just an idea to make watching 3D more enjoyable, or more managerial like. Last edited by drksd4848; 02-15-2017 at 02:50 PM. |

All he has to do then is give control to the ai when he wants to auto play. It's pretty simple really, either you want to be in control of your team or you don't. And if you wish to jump back and forth, there's an option to do that. Several years ago, quite a few versions back, OOTP had the "spacebar" as an autoplay option. It was taken out, can't remember the exact reason but it was a welcome subtraction for many at the time. Last edited by Bluenoser; 02-15-2017 at 06:19 PM. |
