8X Cy Young and 5x MVP
SP Christian Nana just completed a second consecutive season where he was both MVP and CY Young. I could have traded for him back in 2021 - but i did not want to give up a 1st round draft pick.....
Anyone have someone comparably dominant? Needless to say, this player is unedited. |

The strikeout totals aren't nearly as good as Nana's, and he didn't win any MVP's, but Michael Tarr is probably the most dominant pitcher I've seen in any of my files.
He pitched 18 years for the Phillies from 1955 right through 1972, winning 11 Cy Young awards over a 13 year period. He was also a 15x All-Star and has 4 World Series rings. The Cy Young award became the Michael Tarr award after his retirement. He was a 1st ballot HOFer, getting in with 99.1%.

Walter Johnson has won 6 straight "Cy Youngs" in his first 7 years and hasnt had an ERA above 2.00 yet.

Look at those win totals for Tarr. Remarkable. We must be playing in different eras because nana leads my league history in wins. Wins are hard to come by.
Are pitchers eligible for MVP in your league? |

League totals and modifiers will make comparing ERA or the like nearly impossible.
e.g. if you're leagues typically aveage ~4.3-4.5 ERA, then a 2.00 ERA is insanely amazing. if it's ~3.5 it's just a typical cy young guy, but the consistency is still amazing (totally guessing to just point out hte concept). era+, ops+ will translate. war is not a good one to use, just like ERA, k's, k/9 etc. WAR depends on probabilities and weights being the same, which the aren't as eras change in real life and all the variations of LT/LTM et al, in the video game. war is dependent on a "theoretical" average player... if the game adjusts this on its own, that's fine. if not, it's wortheless between leagues just like the other typical stats. those two players at the top are nearly identical, regardless of slightly different results. even their stamina must be similar. to get to 270+ consistently with ~35 GS, you need near 200/200 stamina or a knuckleballer with "higher" stamina (figure they can average 10-20+ more IP per year than you expect with given stamina). One maintained it longer, or was just lucky early with the # of IP up near 270. i've had a 60/100's stamina guy reach that with 37 GS once, he was actually quite efficient for mid 60's stamina/100 and got to 240-250's often. one guy guy hurt more and didn't start as much his first two years... factor that and 1 less year played, and they have nearly the same GS, too. wins? looks like one guy had more consistent talent around them, too. can't control that as a pitcher. And pitchers are indeed eligible. I believe he was in the running quite offen, finishing 2nd and 3rd, but never won the prize so to speak.

#9 Cy Young on its Way.
Just had my first pitcher win the triple crown....and who should it be - the 37 year old 8x Cy Young award winner.
Ordinarily, in my league - pitchers fall off a cliff between 33 and 35. This guy is unreal (and unedited). I keep waiting for the bottom to drop out. 9th CY Young on its way |

To my knowledge Hector Jaramillo is the only ABF pitcher to win more then 1 MVP award. 6 Mike Christian Awards 1994-98, 2000, 2 MVP awards 1996 & 2000.
