Hello. Are there any known photo's of Dooley Womack in a Cincy or Oakland Uni? He was a 1970 Nri for Cincy and traded later in the season of 1970 to Oakland pitched 2 games for and believe he was a NRI for Oakland in 1971. Thank you to any responses.

Not A Football Guy Night #1: Derrell Griffith 1963
A couple of Dexters and 1969 Collections to pass the most boring night of the year...
For years I didn't think there was one image of this Spring-Training-Only Met (save for his appearance in the team's Spring Training club photo) and then he turned up in J.D. McCarthy's 1967 file - and now in Dexters. After going to the Mets from the Dodgers in the Ron Hunt/Tommy Davis deal, Griffith was flipped to the Astros on March 24 for Sandy Alomar. This suggests there could be a Dexter of Alomar in an Astros uniform - although there wasn't one in this collection (he never appeared for them) but precludes a Dexter of Alomar in Mets' garb. Interestingly, it also confirms that when Topps shot the Mets in Spring Training, it had to have done so after March 24, 1967, because Alomar appears in that year's final series in a shot clearly taken at the team facility in St. Petersburg. This also dates the other Mets photographed that spring (including the infamous Tom Seaver shoot in which he posed as a left-handed pitcher, which itself explains why Topps was so short of different images of Seaver through the 1969 card year). Not A Football Guy Night #2: Buddy Bradford 1966
Not necessarily a tough image in a Chicago uniform but as I've noted here before he appeared in at least four different iterations of the White Sox outfit that trying to find one specific one gets a bit daunting. This is, of course, another Dexter.

Here's another of those 1969 images - just before the Astros sold this reliever to the Expos:

Not A Football Guy Night #4: Dan Schneider 1963
Early University of Arizona left-handed pitching star who spent 10 years in pro ball -- all of it either in the National League or AAA-ball. This is a 1967 Dexter.

Not A Football Guy Night #5: Dock Ellis 1968
And a year before he made the majors, Dexter caught the pitcher who would later claim he threw a no-hitter while under the influence of LSD.
I should note I posted two more Dexters tonight of 1967 Spring Training players who never reached the majors (Roger Brown of the Pirates and Dick Howard of the Mets) in the minor league thread. Last edited by Merkle923; 08-04-2017 at 02:09 AM. |

Don Robinson 1978
34 year old RHP Don Robinson signed as a Free Agent with the Angels on 1/3/92 and made the team out of spring training. He started the Halos 5th game of the year throwing 6.1 shutout innings against the Brewers in Anaheim earning the win. He made two more starts for the Angels before he went on the DL. When he returned the Angels released him on 5/14 to add Bert Blyleven to their roster. He finished his Angels career with 3 starts and a 1-0 record with a 2.20 E.R.A in 16.1 IP with 9 K and 3 BB.
Nicknamed the Caveman...Robinson signed with The Phillies and closed out the 1992 season with them. it was his last season in MLB |

Floyd Wicker 1968
Included in the 1969 Expos's 9 snapshots set, from the same "unknown" photographer who shot these great pics shared graciously by Merkle.
The all new Expos got Floyd Wicker in the 1968 rule 5 Draft, from the Cardinals. In his only year with "Nos Amours", their 1969 maiden campaign, he was used mainly as a pinch-hitter...41 games, 41 PA...with not much success as indicated by his BA .103, and 20 SO. Not a lot of good color pics of Floyd with Montreal. Last edited by keonleafs; 10-22-2017 at 12:52 AM. |

Juan Rios 1969
The Expos also got Juan Rios in the 1968 Rule 5 Draft, from the Mets. But he never played for "Nos Amours", as they sold him to the also new expansion Royals, at the end of the 1969 spring training. He played 87 games for Kansas City in 1969, his only major league season.

Jay Hook 1957
No white whale, but among other cool things in latest Vault drop -- Joe Hicks as a Met (capless, alas), more Schnecks -- is this pretty nifty Jay Hook. Colors restored and a bit of cleanup....
