Question about the financial settings and 1962 Mets
I have been starting my NY Mets replay with the 1962 season. I have been playing as the GM/Manager without an amateur daft until 1965. No matter how austere my approach, I always finish in the red. I have tried cutting or trading players to reduce salary. I have played with and without scouting/foreign player draft. I have even modified the salaries, in the game settings menu.
I have noticed the salaries in the game settings>league settings>financials>team expenses and salary settings are much higher than in real life. The minimum salary in 1962 game is $11,800. In real-life the minimum was $5000-6000. The for the 1963 season, the computer will raise some players salaries by over 50%. I have tried to change the settings. Team still ends up in the red. I've even tried to let the computer assign fictional contracts to coaches and players, as well as the league. I have also tried to cut the development expenses to $0 No luck. Is there any way to make the financials more accurate the financials to make them more accurate for 1962? I am trying to see if the Mets saved money and began spending in 1965, would this help their ability to win. Any help wouild be appreciated. |

I think that will probably solve the problem as this isn't a common issue. |

if you changed anythign from default, think about reverting... if it makes sense.
anythign that effects money supply in the league will make sense. e.g. max cash on hand salaries you see stay in roughly the same ratio as the baseline salaries for various qualities of players (and realtive to scouting inaccuracy, not actual ratings). if they rise or fall, it's due to how much mony is available to spend (beyond normal fluctuation caused by behaviour in the game).. basic supply demand type forces here --> if more teams ahave more money to bid in free agency, salaries will go up. without free agency? not sure, maybe the ai just divies it up proportionately but in line with how much you are making? either way these same forces will be the cause - even if it's not the same setup and rules -- just slightly different effects relative to those various settings choices. as the previous respons mentions, likely it's just a matter of importing historical info each year to control that stuff... default shoudl be checked, i'd assume... you'll find going back to default on many things is a likely trend, if you do differently... (relative to how you play - historical, modern etc etc and fun vs serious) if that stuff is checked, look into how many is accumulated and such in the league and affect that to cuase the salaries you would rather see. |

I have imported the financial settings for 1962. But, I don't know if I have checked the box for importing financial settings the following year.
I will also try and keep as many defaults as possible. I play each game. I play as GM and Manager of the Mets. Computer GM for all other teams. So, it takes me a bit of time to complete a season. Thank you very much for the responses. I appreciate the help. Just have to keep trying. Last edited by CraigBShuman; 02-05-2017 at 04:13 PM. Reason: Wanted a more complete response |

if that doesn't fix things, you can do some trial and error if you want.. maybe it's not a big deal or it is.. upto the person i just offer a suggestion relative to what they are asking about in general.
you can always use a restored copy and blow through years and have tunnel vision only about what you are trying to figure out or change or calibrate etc. i believe that check box can be foudn in 2 locations? League Settings -> stats and AI (left side, near top maybe?) and also in the tab to the left of Stats and AI (historical something?). that will be the best place to look and read over the other checkboxes near that one - refer to online manual for each check box - i don't play historicals so i can't recall by memory what is there and exactly what they do, but i feel like there are likely 2 or 3 you need to read into to make sure it's doing what you want. |
