Exclamation Database editing help

Hello anyone reading,

For the past few few weeks, I have been creating a new nation called Arrington. I have just finished adding new cities after successfully seeing the nation work on OOTP. But when I went to check that these latest cities worked, I got a strange error seen below.

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...1&d=1485740490

A friend and I tried to figure out what was wrong, but we could not. I am not good with code and there is too much in the db.

Here is the database I am using. If someone could please look and see what I am doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

Did you create the nation through XML, because I have been attempting to do that recently and failing.

Ah right. No, I have been editing it through Notebook ++. It is much easier for me than the basic look. Here is the link to download N++ if you wanna keep helping. If not, no worries. I should have stated that first

as long as it saved it in its original format, it shouldn't matter.. notepad++ is defintieyl superiour in many ways. i use it when someone doesn't format an xml or conf file very well... it does it for us :P

the color-coding should help if you missed a > or something. i can't read the error you posted because the forums won't allow it - maybe the file type? these forums are a bit picky about things that really don't matter or easily circumvented anyway and provide no real protection - but does cause inconvenience aplenty.

it sounds like you got somethign custom to work? so, it's probably just something minor you made a mistake on - like formatting.

if it's a subset, then you may just not be inserting it properly (just adding rows to an existing table? new table? somethgn else?)... i've never worked on teh world file, so i am of limited help on specifics for you.

find other examples of somethign similar, open up 2nd notepad and scroll to your edits to compare - best way to figure it out with no one helping... use work that is functioning and compare.

Thanks, I will try this.

Sorry guys, I still can't figure this out. I know for a fact I did not edit the country of Laos.

I have scanned this countless times and don't see any glaring issues. If someone could download my DB and check, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to be such a annoyance, I just don't have the eye for code and I am new to doing this for OOTP.

Hey Sizeman, I took a look at your xml file.

I'm not at my desktop so, I can't import the xml and give it a test run and I'm not 100% sure that this will solve the issue...

...But I noticed that you have LANGUAGE id="40".

From my understanding you can only replace language and ethnicities and not add more.

I edited your xml so that for the time being Arringtonians have U.S. Modern names.

If you wouldn't mind to run this xml and see if that is the issue.

world_default.zip

If for some reason this is the case, I would replace a language and ethnicity you know that you're not going to use in your world.

I got the same error message as above. I think I might just redo my nation. I don't wanna screw around with this too long. Thanks for the help though

Sorry to waste your time.

start over fresh, if you've been editting the same file over and over again at this point...

more and more likely to cause a problem for yourself. start over, work through the changes you want with the new info you have and see what happens.

mosey over to teh mods section too... maybe somethign is there that relates?
