HR distance leaderboards
Just a thought as I am playing 17 right now. The game already tracks HR distances in game log. Could be fun to have leaderboards or reports of longest HR's each year and maybe historic.

no real point but thought it could be a simple addition that some would enjoy since it's already tracked in the game log. In some ways could also use it to analyze players power. Say a guy has the same power rating as another but averages much higher HR distance so could be a factor.

Seems like it would add to the immersion, for me at least

I also like the idea - or if not leaderboards, then at least make HR distance info otherwise more accessible outside of just the game logs.
The problem is that since HR distances are based primarily on existing outfield fence distances, Honus Wagner likely has the opportunity to put up way bigger distance numbers than say, Giancarlo Stanton. That ain't right. Makes the whole distance leaderboard thing kinda meaningless in my opinion. I'd love to see a tweak to the way that HR's (and accordingly HR distances) are calculated overall.

Immersion, as with so many other seemingly trivial aspects of this game.
Edit: By the way, bombboy, you have posted only 332 times in three-and-a-half years and you have been thanked in nearly half of them! Are you some kind of lurking genius?

No it is offset by park factors. The distances are actually cosmetic.

Fastest pitch
Along this line how about a top 10 list of fastest pitches on the season.

This is a marvelous idea. Just to add to it, could we also store the record longest HR for each team, and generate a story when a player breaks it?
I just played game 5 of the 2018 World Series, and in reading through the game log to write the recap, saw that Miguel Sano's bomb to left had broken Ted Williams' record for longest HR in Red Sox history by 5 feet. |

Perhaps take all this a step or two further. With batters, add a metric of avg. feet/hr. There are others to consider also. With pitchers, add metrics of avg. Speed of each pitch, effectiveness of each pitch based on several criteria (slash line, base stats, ops+, etc.). There may be a system and formula out there already (Brooks?) But I do not think that anyone would give away proprietary info. So criteria and a formula would need to be created. I think this might add not only flavor but also real information you could use to potentially judge players. I also believe that there are many more avenues to explore along these veins.
