Stars of an Alternate Universe

I'm only in the 2018 playoffs from a 2015 start (I play out a lot of games and take real breaks in the offseason) and it's fascinating to see some of the guys who've already become megastars whose careers in reality didn't pan out that way or vice versa.

(This is of course not a criticism! If OOTP could predict with 100% accuracy who was going to be a star, Markus would be GM of the defending MLB champions by now.)

In particular, in my universe Dallas Keuchel is a reliever who just posted -0.5 WAR for Detroit, while Ramon Flores is the best player in Baseball.

Quite excited to see where it goes from here!

(This is also why I really enjoy reading people's dynasty reports, since the best ones really do conjure up an alternate history)

That's always the best part of these games. In my current universe you have your normal guys dominating (Syndergaard, Trout, Harper, etc.), but David Dahl has turned into the most dominant offensive force I've seen in some time. He's won the triple crown once and came close another time. He leads the NL in WAR every year.

Yepp, David Dahl. Haha.

Isn't it great? Actually, Dahl has panned out nicely in my game too. He hasn't hit like that–OPS's in the 115 range–but he was a 6.9 WAR player in 2017 thanks mostly to a +17.3 ZR in center field.

Haha, I always found that when I played a real-life OOTP sim, I would mix up events that happened in real life and events that only happened in the game. I'd think "Wait... didn't Kershaw just have Tommy John surgery?!" or "random Reds prospect Jesse Winker... isn't he the MLB HR leader for the Dodgers?"

Maybe that's why I stick to fictional now.

Oh, I do that too–I was on the phone with my dad today and had the momentary thought to ask him what he thought of the playoffs before I remembered it was January.
