Bullpen Set Up

Attached is the last 3 seasons stats for my closer. He's 26, and has had no regression in ratings, and while it could just be a bad season, I think it's the way he's being used. In 2021 and 2022, he was set as a closer, and I had 2 setup guys. For 2023, league rules were changed to drop the amount closers are used to rarely, so that the stopper role could be implemented. The problem is this closer struggles when he pitches more than 1 inning. How can I set it up that he pitches in most games (i.e. 2021 80 games) but not pitch more than one inning?

I'm not exactly sure how you would do so, but the two things that come to mind are Bullpen Usage Option and Player Strategy Settings. Perhaps "9th or later" for the former and a combination of "Quick Hook as Reliever" and low "Pitch Count Limit" for the latter?

Not sure if this would exactly solve your issue, but in the past, when I sim a season with a struggling setup-man, I set his pitch limit to 20-25. Generally gives him 0.2 - 1.1 IP. Also hook him quickly.
