I feel for you, man. I hope you find a way to get back to OOTP soon. I would be going through withdrawal right about now.

I know this does not help you at all at the moment, but this is why I advocate to ALWAYS BACK-UP AND SAVE AFTER EVERY SESSION OR EVEN SEASON (on DVD or CD or on an external drive. I have three HDs (two are SSD) and use one 2TB as a backup that nothing can touch). I KNOW IT'S WORK, BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT CONSIDERING THINGS LIKE THIS DO HAPPEN.

Back to Paderman,

Depending on what PC/Mac and OS you are using, I know there are programs out there that do AND WILL get back every folder you may have deleted. Now, some programs will cost up to $50 (or more), but it's well worth it if your league is that important to you which I believe it is. ALSO, there are professional computer repair shop that can gain your data back.

Despite of what we are taught and told (lol), NOTHING is EVER TRULY deleted off of your HD. It is ALWAYS obtainable, mate. It might cost you a few bucks, mate, but it can be done.

Let us know how it goes!!!

google for a free one... they all work the same way and none can recover truly lost data (over-written). "undelete" "recover deleted files" etc

if it hasn't been over-written yet, you can typically recover it.

the less things you've done with your pc the more likely you can recover it all, especially somethign like streaming video which writes 100's of mb to gigs to your storage device.

i.e. Make sure you try to recover the new files before installing a fresh copy of ootp. know which files are in the autosave directory and game root dir and search for those in the undelete application (whatever it's called).

yeah, don't use a recorvery of the application - just in case... only re-use a recovered saved game directory and files.

re-install from a download fresh - for sure. then copy the .lg saved game directory to the proper place

you can probably serach your registry for "OOTP" and find the serial number, i bet... if emailing takes time you can look in the meantime - don't fiddle in the registry! -- eyes only

undelete used to come packaged with windows at one time (3.1 or maybe 95).

Hoping it works out for Padreman, and as an aside to what vulcan4 said ...

The game's internal backup system takes longer to work if it's been longer since you used it. So I actually back up my game EVERY TIME I CLOSE IT. You'd be surprised how little time it takes if you do it that way.

I've had problems with anti-virus programs thinking that esellrate software was a virus which made launching the game impossible so I had to reinstall it, but the league files in the Documents folder was ok.

inside those programs you can exclude entire folders... i'd suggest doing that.

if you have an av software suite running all the time (real-time) it's a total waste of resoucres... and jsut a security blanket with vitually no benefits and certain constant costs (using resources all the time!).

get the ones that allow you to schedule them to run 1/week or 1/month and skip the real-time bs and the larger av suites are just total bloatware.

mcafee, norton, these programs are a joke. unless you actually are not computer literate and you do encounter viruses and problems due to your behaviour... then you may want to leave them up.

if you're smart enough not to open emails you don't know (especially replying to them to stop LoL), never extract files from chain emails (stupid!!@$!@#), and you don't randomly click "okay" without reading each time your browser pops up a window, you'll be okay.

don't run weird applications you've never heard of... simple stuff really.

i think it's been a decade or more since i saw a virus of any concern... and spyware is bound to pop up on occasion, but typically not as dangerous as it could be (more spying for ad content than anything really nefarious 99% of the time)

never download from cNet, lol. or some mass download site, always find the orignal maker's website and get it there. make sure it's a real company, if that really has to be said, lol.

when friends send chain emails or attachments of a cute cat... don't open it ... youaren't being rude... they are being stupid. unless they took the picture of the cat and uploaded that file, of course... speaking of random bs files sent on internet becase the look funny/stupid/cool/cute - but were not made by anyone you know. little games from emails are even worse! don't let curiousity over somethign so unimportant damage your computer - or worse your credit rating.
