Pro/reg....player loans....mind's blown!

This could easily be the best news for fictional players!!! Could someone go into detail about how it works?

Incredible! We've been asking for this for years! Very excited to see it.

How will leaderboards act? Will they still be by league or will we get some kind of association leaderboard?

As for the AFL, I assume that mean we will have a loan feature? Will we be able to loan players to any league we choose similar to how association football works?

No, you cannot loan to any league, only to tournaments and "development leagues" (or "winter leagues" - we may keep playing around with the wording).

One issue I encountered trying to experiment with promotion/relegation on my own is with the team history. If a team won the championship for their old league, it would then show in history as having won the new league for that year. Hopefully this would not be the case now.

Is this feature, essentially, like European football where if you finish first in a certain league, you move up to th next best league and if you finish last in a league, you move down a league?

But can you designate any league as a development league? In my league we loan players to a international and independent league. I have to do all this manually. Would I be able to designate them as "development"?

They'd have to be re-created, since internally we store them in a different structure. And as it stands now, they also would not be allowed to have any finances, or "own" any players of their own (and thus don't trade, sign players, etc...).

We may look to expand the capabilities over time, but it's currently designed mostly to have either short international tournaments, or winter leagues like the AFL.

Forgive me as i only know a little about how this works in Soccer. Is this kind of the same way where you can set the worst team in the MLB to be demoted and the best team in AAA to be promoted?

Is that the idea here?

Yes. But understand in Europe football, there are no minor leagues like there are for MLB. It's an open league concept, where any club can join any league, and there are no territorial restrictions. North American pro sports leagues use the closed league model, where there are a set roster of members and each has exclusive territory that no other club in the league is permitted to infringe.

Not to forget the financial consequences or the potential loss of player contracts that come with a demotion.

Does the AI select the top prospects for the AFL or is that manually done? And does that work for all "winter leagues?

Also does it eliminate the 5 rookie league rosters that every team has now because of the AFL leagues current structure?

Basically, yes, but the AAA wouldn't be full of farm teams then.

The worse teams drop to a lower major league. I'm wondering how many levels are possible and if they work with farm teams/leagues or not.

You can sign on to be the GM of an AFL team and select the rosters yourself (or as commissioner you can always choose the rosters yourself). Or if not, then the game will select them.

I'm not sure on the second part of your question, but it's set up like the current one where each AFL team will draw from 5 MLB organizations.
