The Rajah-Best Offensive Season Ever

My universe is made up of players from all eras. I've played a lot of seasons in different versions, I have never seen an offensive season like the one just put together by Rogers Hornsby. He has enough production for two players.

Yeah, pretty great season. Though he had a real life 12.1 WAR (bb-ref) season and several 10+ WAR seasons, so it isn't crazy unthinkable.

Why was anyone still pitching to him? Only 67 walks? How many IBB did he have?

Because he has Tony Perez (.298 BA, 32 HR, .903 OPS, 135 RBI) and Ray Lankford (25 HR in only 98 games due to injury with a 1.030 OPS) hitting behind him

If you're thinking the Aces have a stacked lineup, you'd be right. They are a perennial 100+ win team each season and have World Series title on their resume.

These guys aren't facing tomato can pitchers, either. The league ERA this past season was 3.88.

I bet pitchers faked injuries to avoid that lineup.

Seems like a flu bug and and a rash of sore elbows always hits the pitching staff whenever the Aces come to town

That's just his 1922 season translated to the modern era. Hornsby was a pretty fair player. If possible, I think he's underrated relative to the other inner circle players.

I think the fact that you called him "a pretty fair player" sums up your point perfectly. Way under recognized.
