Injuries..

Kinda getting pissed with injuries now, I'm on 84 games, so far the injuries I have had are getting out of hand. Playing as the Cubs, with the 2016 roster update (from OOTP Devs)

  • Jake Arrieta (Out 6 months Torn Rotator Cuff)
  • Jason Hammel (Out 5 monthsTorn Back Muscle)
  • Javier Baez (Out 6 weeks Strained Shoulder)
  • Jorge Soler (Out 10-12 weeks Fractured Finger)
  • Aroldis Chapman (Out 7 months Torn Rotator Cuff)
  • Kyle Schwarber (Out 6 months from beginning of season, this one is fair enough, as he was already injured at the beginning of the season)
  • Ben Zobrist has been in and out of injury (was out for 2 months at one point)
  • Addison Russel has been in and out with one stretch being a month.
I honestly don't know what I can do with this season.. I've tried getting in players from trades to make up the positions, but it's getting out of hand, I have okay prospects at MiL, but I doubt they're good enough to take to the MLs yet..

What are your guys' thoughts?

You can adjust the injury frequency to your liking.

Turn your injury setting down one notch. You're going to still have plenty of injuries, but usually not THAT many.

Just play around with your league settings until you find the right spot.

Good way to learn all the features you have available.

I actually use the "High (MLB realistic)" settings. I mean you can turn them down if you want it to be less realistic and that's fine. Just depends on what your goals with the game are. Not like a real MLB team has never suffered a season of injuries similar to what you have experienced.

Honestly I always felt that this setting though it's supposed to be realistic is very unrealistic yes players get hurt all the time but having that many players and one single team with injuries that long how many of the times that really happen a year ? 2 or 3 guys maybe but I have seen 6-8 guys. Go down for long periods it's happens often

I've simmed 100's of seasons on this setting and I find it fairly realistic. I also like how it forces more use of bench players, marginal AAA prospects and so called "AAAA" players. But I have no problem with anyone that just doesn't want that kind of realism. Certainly this game is set up in such a way that you can play it however you wish.

There's realism, but, I've not known one team to have like 5-8 main players out at the same time for such a long time, or rarely happen, at all. Had no back ups lol.

2016 Dodgers had 1538 games missed by players on the DL. Oakland had 1453 games missed by players on the DL. That's just this past season and only as of August 26th.

The Mets were without their starting first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, three of their five starting pitchers and a platoon center fielder who would've played 3-4 days a week by early September this past season. Bad luck happens.

That's what I use. Some years I have very few injuries others I get hammered. I find it pretty realistic and I know the work the guys out in to tune it.

Like others said, set the settings to where you'll find the most enjoyment. For me, I like the challenge of building my roster where I have coverage if I get hit hard by injuries. Your mileage will likely vary.

What are your guys' thoughts?

You can go directly into the players profile and change the injury too.

Bad luck. While it is rare, teams do get decimated to that level in real life. There have already been plenty of examples within this thread.
