GM vs AI Manager Control of Position

Who has control of the position of a player? I have an unhappy player who is very eligible to be a starting pitcher but my AI manager always resets his position to RP after I set it to SP.

What should I do to keep this player happy?

Trade him or fire the manager.

Different managers will exert different levels of control. Hands on GMs will look to hire managers that will follow their instructions, whereas other GMs are happy to build the roster and let the manager set out the lineups as they see fit. Sounds like you've got a manager that wants control over his lineup card. If you're happy with that, you'll need to address the issue from the player side of things. But if you want the control, then you'll need to find a manager that will go along with what you say, and not make changes.

You can find information on the managers' personalities on the manager and strategy screens.

....or you can check the box that gives GMs control over pitching assignments, lineups, and depth charts regardless of what the manager wants.

Well yeah, there's that, too.

But judging from the OPs earlier posts, they seem like the type of player that wants things as realistic as possible, and would probably relish the challenge of finding a manager they can work well with over clicking an override checkbox.

Then again, I could be mis-reading the situation completely. I have been known to do that on occasion.

BigRed75 got me completly right . Also I was wondering as for all other controls assigned to the AI the interface tells you with a popup "you can not change that" but for the position the game let me change it, but the AI changed it back.
