player page vs. scouting ratings
I know I've asked this before but I've never gotten an answer and it's really bugging me. I don't think "you're supposed to figure it out" is good here because, well, it's my scouts' opinions. I should know what they mean.
Why are the potential/overall ratings different on the player page and the scouting reports page? Which is what my scout really thinks? This is important because when drafting, or looking at free agents, etc., I look at those stars (not as the be-all end-all but the first glance). So why are they different? Does anyone have a clear answer? |

ah, make sure it's using scouts vs OSA on each... i'd expect your socut is default, but maybe player page uses OSA because they are the ones that publish the info? kinda reaching but probably a good reason if so.
easy to know: look at Scouting Rerports within a player's profile.. if you keep them, you whould see both scout and OSA by month (your scouting update length) - easy to see the values and compare to what you see in the player page. on the free agent lists and such, you will definitely be seeing your scout's ratings, fear not. you have to select OSA from dropdown if you want to see that, and everytime you click a profile and exit back to list it will default back to your scout (actually a pet peeve of mine.. why would i change it if i wanted it to toggle back without being notified!) using stars the way you described is normal.. don't let the rhetoric go too far. the only thing is not to make decisions based on it. however, like you i am not going to sift through 1000+ players for my first round pick. i am going to filter for those above a fairly low threshold for potential .. i go with half my scale, but with star you may want to go down to ~2 stars... which is a bit too much. i'd suggest a higer over/pot ratings resolution. it's not useful info anyway, so the main benefit is being better at shortening long lists of players you need to sift throgh on occasion (draft, researching trade targets, possibly FA etc). in fact i'd wager the AI benefits greatly from a larger range of overall/potential values... more so than a human can. I don't think it's a scout vs OSA thing.... I've noticed this too. The OVR/POT is usually different on the player page than on the scouting reports page.
I use 20/80 for OVR/POT and I've noticed this. I've played with all of the 'who is rating this player' buttons and from what I can tell the ones on the player page don't match the OSA or scout ratings from the scouting reports page for most players. In the past I've thought maybe the player page number is the 'current' number, whereas the scouting page number is the number as of the last development update, the frequency of which is an option (I have it set monthly). |

It's not date of scouting either because they're different on the day.
And I will look at individual scouting reports when drafting, etc., but I don't want to look at every single player because the half-star might really be a four-star in the actual report. That's ridiculous and completely fails the purpose of the overall/potential stars as a quick-and-dirty way to break players into groups before going more in-depth. I don't think it's ridiculous to expect a real answer on why they're different. Does nobody really know? |

well you shouldn't be able to see all the best prospects at the top unless you have 100% accurate scouting.
maybe one page is showing ai eval and the other is not? it's got to be pointing to the wrong thing if it's not the same, but likely something rational because it's reasonable right? (the different rating - reasonable for scouting incaccuracy and ability) if you have 100% accurate ratings, they will change constantly - not just when scouting reports update. (it used to be weekly, if i recall... could be different now). that would cause scouting reports to look different, if old. the player list, profile should be the same though. does the bnn player page only use osa? i never use that page much. the player page (initial screen after "open profile" or left click) and ratings i see in lists are the same though. whatever screen has the odd info, i don't experience that. if it's the bnn player page, just use it for easy splits info and ignore the rest. check related settings, too. test... turn off ai eval and see if it happens... turn off scouting inaccuracy and see the results ... use the re-run osa and human rescout function from main League Settings Page after each change... do one by one.. revert then move on to the next to isolate it. soemone else won't do that for you... well, i won't do that sort of thing, lol... my time is better spent elsewhere. |

I have been playing this game for many years now and I have noticed it, posted it and asked this same question. To my satisfaction, no one has been able to solve this issue so I stopped asking.
My workaround to this issue is to "reset" my scouting function and the game "works" the way I believe it should. All I do (when I see the scouting reports not match) is to: Go to "League Settings" Go to "Run OSA & Human Scouts Rescout" Once finished, this issue goes away for awhile and I go back to enjoying the game. When the inconsistencies arise again, I simple reset and play on. No more stress just pure enjoyment. Hope this helps |

NoOne, these evals are not supposed to be the "true" evals but both the scouting report and the player page are supposed to be my scout's opinion.
SO WHY AREN'T THEY THE SAME? Has Markus never addressed this? |
