Trading so far..

Hey!

Playing as the Cubs!

I just traded Jason Heyward for Justin Upton (Think it's a good idea, played 30/40 games with Cubs on another season, and Heyward didn't do squat all, and I haven't been a massive fan of his as a Cubs fan.

Now, I wanted to see who I could get for Ben Zobrist, just for the S and giggles...
The Nationals have offered me;

• Gio Gonazalez (SP)
• Mat Latos
• Jayson Werth

Also, put Dexter Fowler to see what I could get as he's just signed for the Cards in real life, so..
The Nationals will give me

• Marc Melancon (RP) for him..
• Mat Latos (SP)
• Gio Gonzalez (SP)

Not sure if I did trade either Fowler or Zobrist, which is the better option.
with my bullpen it's quite a tempting off, but I'm not too sure..


What's your guys' thoughts?

Honestly you could do this but those trades are just about what your looking for here. Big contract for big contract.

On your trade offers
I wouldn't take any of them. If they are collective (aka all of those players together) both are terrible offers.

Zobrist
While Zobrist is an albatross contract in the making, but the trio of offers are all not worth him in the long term.

Gio is a terrible starter with a bad contract and wouldn't make it in the OOTP Cub's rotation of Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Hammels, and Lacky. Where does Gio fit in there? The answer is that he doesn't.

Mat Latos is the same thing, bad contract, bad starter and doesn't make the rotation. He isn't an upgrade.

Werth is an old outfielder who is statistically less valuable than Zobrist, can plat less positions than Zobrist, also he will decline faster than Zobrist.

So keep Zobrist.

Fowler

Melancon is a free agent at the end of the season, so unless you want to lose your QO opportunity with Fowler, for a rental top 3 reliever you can if you want to. I would keep Fowler here.

Ditto for Gio and Latos. Both are useless.

Keep Fowler too.

Qualifying Offer, you can obtain a draft pick from the team that signs your player who receives a Qualifying Offer.

You need to be careful because it is a 1 year $15MM dollar contract and some do accept, then your stuck with them at a high price.

It's risk and reward.
