gameplay question - controlling farm team

I wasn't able to find an answer for this in the manual or in the game.

I am controlling my AHL team, and want to sign players to AHL contracts. No matter what I choose in terms of home screen choices, I can only offer NHL contracts.

Screenshots are to show I have control enabled, and that the FA Center screen shows my AHL team's finances, but when I choose a player from the list, and try to offer him a contract, it's an NHL deal.

It's not possible to sign players for your farm team. You can only sign players for your own team but it's already planned to improve the relation between teams and farm teams in the game.

Thanks! I'll stick with Sandbox and Commish mode to get those guys on my AHL roster.
