Locked Positions for real players

Please Please put in locked positions for certain players. Aroldis Chapman is always turned into a starter in my standard games by the AI. As are some other good relievers.

That's already in the game. On the player page/available actions/set game strategy/force role. For batters it's force start.

I'd like this feature expanded so one could force start batters against LHP or RHP selectively.

But that only works when I'm controlling the team. I just set it and a week later he's back at SP.

There is another setting that allows you to control all the AI teams. I don't know how to get there as it's not something of interest to me. Sorry I can't be of more help.

The setting to control all AI teams is no good if you just want to play in neutral observer mode, or if you don't want to constantly monitor all 30 teams' depth charts and pitching rotations.

Unless there's another "control AI" setting that I'm not aware of, that's a manual override. But the OP is right, the lock position doesn't work as soon as you relinquish control of the team. The next game day, the AI goes back to as things were before.
