Is anyone else getting amateur drafts that have progressively worse talent?
For example, I would guess that game year 2 had twenty or twenty-five five star prospects in the draft. Game year 16 has two five star prospects. And it is not just the high end, the quality of each class as a whole is less. I have not adjusted any settings to make this happen, I think. All I can find about this commented previously is that it is due to expected "randomness" ... but it makes the game significantly less fun to be developing worse and worse prospects. Help? |

I believe it depends on the league trying to even out the talent base, it also depends on if it is relative ratings or not. I am about 16 years in the future also, there are solid draft picks, but I have noted a good amount of draft steals in late rounds also do pop up later on.

I cant really speak to non relative ratings as thats what I currently use. I have found luck later in the draft by usually taking someone with good intelligence/work ethic and one above average skill.

they may look like bad draft classes to start, but player development will change. One thing I started messing with was increasing the development speed.
I will usually get 1 or 2 useful players per draft. Sometimes they are 1st rounders other times they are lower rounds. I had recently an OF that was a contact and speed guy in round 20 and was my starting LF for 6 years. |

Are you playing a fictional game or are you playing the default MLB game? The first few drafts in the MLB game have custom created draft classes that tend to be stronger than the game generated.
Also, the drafts do tend to "correct" a bit for the talent that is currently in the league (i.e. it try to keep things balanced over time), so if your league starts to get over-talented you are likely to have a few "down" drafts. |

What year are you in? As I mentioned before the first few seasons have a bunch of "created" draftees and because of this the draft is much stronger than what tends to get generated. Plus, those first few generated drafts need to adjust for all the talent brought in by the created drafts, so are weaker than average. It eventually will even out, but it is just a result of the way OOTP has implemented the real player MLB.
