Quick questions on how spring training invite works. Lets say a player on my major league roster is out of options, only 1 year of MLB service time. I put him thru waivers (and he clears) and I send him down to AAA during the preseason (February). Spring training comes around and i invite him to spring training... now after ST its time to send him back to AAA. Would i need to waive him again, or would i be able to option him back to AAA as long as hes a roster invitee?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe if he's on the 40 man in spring training he would use an option, or need to pass through waivers if he's out of options.
If you DFA'd him and he's a Non Roster Invitee (NRI), you can put him back down to AAA without needing to option him, since he's not on the 40-man. EDITED - just re-read and saw you already passed him through waivers. If he's passed through waivers once he should be able to be sent down without needing to do so again. just found a post in ootp 15 discussions that says there is an issue with demoting NRI with no options back to AAA. Markus commented in the post saying that they are working on a solution around it... 2 years later i hope they have fixed that lol

the good thing is it'll at least prompt you that he'd have to go on waivers before sending him down. worst case scenario, send 'em down right before the season starts when the waiver wire is usually jampacked and hope he sneaks through

Non roster invitees works perfectly. No options are used.

No Minor League Camp or Split Squad Games. Only once in a while does a Computer controlled Team or my A. GM sets MLB roster before Opening Day.

What does that have to do with anything else in this thread, Bear?
