Losing streak

The 1969 expansion Seattle Pilots have set the modern record for consecutive losses at 25, falling one short of the 26 losses suffered by the 1889 Louisville Colonels. The Pilots did not draft well, choosing primarily relief pitchers. The lack of position players (only 14 total on their 40-man roster) has resulted in a measly total of 67 runs scored over their first 38 games. The pitching staff has not faired much better, allowing 214 runs and ranking last in the American League.

The Pilots broke the streak today, beating Washington 2-0 behind their only starting pitcher Dick Kelley (3-3, 3.86). Lenient team owner Miguel Moreno is expected to be very patient with the rebuilding process, but rumors persist that the team is looking for a new host city to depress next season.

Note: This is an AI team, not mine. I just thought it was interesting. I have not seen a losing streak this long that I can remember.

Picking mainly RPs is an easy way to get hammered fast.

Yeah, if that's not mostly theatrics for the post, then that's some crappy AI drafting, lol. glad i don't pay attention to that stuff! i might pull some hair out.

I don't think i've ever noticed a team be that inept before. it has to a cosmic joke of coincidences. i.e. worst possible GM and all other facets of acquiring players over time.

Every time we go to an opposing ballpark, they play "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. Weird. - Pilots Manager (OK, the song came out during the 70s, but still.)

Yes. They are 2-2 vs. the Royals, 1-2 vs. the Twins, 1-2 vs. the Senators, and 0-for-everybody else.

I recommend Milwaukee. They're already depressed from losing the Braves and drinking all that beer.

I hear there's a used-car salesman who might be interested in purchasing a team...
