AI Manager letting relievers pitch through exhaustion in September

It's September. Cleveland has 11 relievers. The first 3 relievers were each used multiple times over the past 5 days. Everyone else was completely rested. The first 3 relievers continued pitching while exhausted. The next guy was pushed to exhaustion and then taken out. The first few guys are rated significantly better than the rest of the bullpen, but that doesn't seem like enough of a reason to be using guys while exhausted, does it? The manager doesn't even have particularly strong strategy preferences.

Edit: Version 17.11 Build 73

Guess I have to disagree here. It kind of does seem to be enough of a reason, doesn't it? There are plenty of rl MLB managers that lean on their BP studs just as hard as this or even harder, especially when they lack any depth in their pens. (cough, Terry Collins, cough...)

I'm not saying there couldn't be an issue here, it's possible there is.

But even if this is sub-optimal, there are also plenty of rl guys who would make the same sort of choices afaik.

The AI can be a sketchy enough bullpen manager as it is. Having a neutral strategy manager use exhausted pitchers is just going to produce bad results.

And this is a new development from a recent patch. The only time I've seen an exhausted pitcher pitching in the past is when the team is out of rested relievers.

It may be a bug, I'm not saying it isn't.

It just seems to me that the huge talent gap between the guys being used and those that aren't could be a possible explanation of this.

Hopefully Matt sees the thread and can confirm or deny my hypothesis.
