Transferring files from a hard drive

So recently my hard drive crapped out on me but i was able to save some the saved game files. I now have a new hard drive ans wanted to know if i could transfer them to my new hard drive and piick up where i left off? I downloaded the game from Steam if that makes a difference

As long as you grabbed the .lg folder, then you should be OK. Custom ballpark images and 3d models won't be there (if you had any), but the league itself should be playable.

If drive letter and directory names are all the same, you are good to go without doing anything. Otherwise, check the settings when you first load the application. or, check the custom_folders.ini file in the game's root. only 2 lines, type new location if necessary.

If steam places data in a directory outside of the root, you may need to find and move that too. depends on how your system is set up - mutliple drives etc....

Another question, I have brought a new computer and am going to purchase an external hard drive. Can I copy all files over to the external hard drive and then put them on the new computer? Any problems I should be aware of?

i have a backup of my entire OOTP folder (zipped) on an external. It should copy over to internal fine. (i've moved zip files of .lg games without issue ... but not the entire game.) as long as you put the files in the folder that the game recognizes, i don't think there will be issues. However, as i've not tried it, i can't swear to it. Maybe a better computer literate person can chime in???????

That should work as long as you've already installed and licensed the game.

Thanks to both of you. One more question (I think); do I have to unlicense the game on the computer I am moving it from and then relicense on the new computer?

Only if you have already used your two licenses.

Of course it may make sense to go ahead and unlicense on the old computer if you don't plan on playing on it anymore.
