Released players coming back

This is a bug that has existed for quite a few versions now, but it actually seems even worse in 17.

In an online league, I release crappy prospects from my low minor league teams. I export. The sim runs. I download the new file, and magically the crappy prospects are back on my low minor league teams.

This onyl happens in two days in the season, when the first-year player draft and the Rule 5 draft is held. This cannot be prevented, unfortunately, as otherwise just drafted players would be released, since those are missing in the export on draft day.

It appears to be happening much more frequently than on those two game days. I'm in multiple OOTP17 online leagues, and almost every single organization had players released from minor league teams that ended up in this state.

When you dump the SQL out, in the players table, the player still has the team_id matching the team they were with. But in the team_roster table, the player is no longer listed.

They were released during the season by GMs, they exported, the commish imported, ran the sim, and now the players are only partially associated with the team. It happened within the last week in real life.

The only reliable way for the players to really get released is for the commissioner to take exports, find each player individually (which is not easy because they aren't really on any roster), and then release them.

Would it help to see an online league file that has at least 100 players in this state in the minors?

Markus or Matt Arnold,

Is there anything that can be done here? I'm in one online league that has almost 200 players stuck like this, and a second league that has at least 50. The players were not released on draft day or rule 5 day.

The only fix for online leagues is to find all the players, then have the commish take exports and release them one at a time.

But I'm not even sure this issue is resolved in 17.11.70, and it can really make things difficult.

Thanks!

Hi Markus;
I shared this issue with you with the ABL league file last year. We have individual teams with about 100 players :-( in a 28 team league!

This is really not good for any online league so if there is anything that can be done please let us know. Thanks as always for your help.

Just for clarity, this issue in the ABL was noticed after releasing INT complex players. These players were really never released from the organization and appeared on the player list for the major league team but never assigned as such. So they were in limbo. We have several hundreds of these players. The issue was noticeable when certain teams were looking at their top prospects page on the team home page screen and noticing players on the top list that were not on their team. Call it bad managing to release them ;-) nevertheless that is how the issue was spotted.

Minor league players I release in my online league do disappear from the minor league team roster but their player page still shows them on the team, on a contract. They are also listed under "all players in organization". They do not appear among the free agents either.

I think I am seeing this issue or something very similar.

We are on 17.11.71 and the league has just started the regualr season (not near the ammy or rule 5 draft).

What I'm seeing is SOME player that are released are not getting to the FA pool. If you look inthe team's org you cannot see the player but if you look at the player it says he is still in the org.

Recommend to get everyone in the league on 17.11.72, where this bug was fixed.
