You know that the NHL roster work is not done so far.

I would continue to play the league in FHM2 and start up FHM3 with even better version of the fictional league(unless you have maxed out the teams),

So far no but in this case it should be save to promise that we will add it in one of the first updates.

Btw, we added a third option for player pics: FG is still available, you can of course still use player pics and now we have jersey pics available, which have the players number on the back (thats my favorite option).

Couldn't care less about online functionality, but the very low season limit of 25-30 seasons only is something that I find very disappointing as someone who likes to play the game in commissioner mode and sim to see how things go. Not gonna lie, still gonna buy the game......but this news is very disconcerting to me.

As I wrote before, liking the screens a lot, it looks like a legit NHL product with the colours and background pics. The match engine is already quite good IMO, two obvious things I hope are addressed are the roster/trade AI, and automatic loading of facegens according to file names.

We have a Sandbox mode which is basically what you know from last year. The new career mode is for the many people that want to play day to day and do all the daily work, see what happens in the league and so on.

If you get time, can you explain the differences between the modes more? Not sure I completely understand the differences since I think I would want to do those things.

After reading comments, and soaking this news up for a day, the biggest disappointment to me is the response to the Online community.

It's not that you haven't been forthcoming, because you have within these six threads. It's clear that FHM3 will not include online functionality, and it will not be a high priority from the development team. We should not expect there to be Online functionality in a future patch, or even in FHM 4, but it is not something that is an impossibility.

The problem is that all of this information has not been presented concisely and in a way that lays out all expectations, or lack thereof. There should be a pinned thread in the Online Leagues section of this board, with a nice clear announcement from the development team regarding the lack of Online functionality.

If you had to make a tough decision, fine. Own the decision though and next time be a bit less discreet about such a major change like this.

I think it is quite clear from the responses in this thread that many people have hit a nerve and the professionalism of the staff of OOTP has slipped somewhat. I find a number of responses to valid questions to be rude and condescending which is not the best customer service.

I just think the team needs to take on board the response from their users which is quite clear.

I get it though, online functionality is out. Just try and respond with a little decorum if you want to keep your potential customers on side.

I guess this is where discussing over forums make it difficult and sometimes a Tone can be misconstrued. I am sorry to see that you feel offended, but from all the comments that I've read here, the staff was quite sincere and forthright...and straightup direct / honest. In addition to answering questions, that's personally what i want to see in a developer even if the answer is sometimes a tough one to take in.

I imagine it was a very difficult decision and quite possibly one that they didn't know the answer until closer to release. I would much rather see a feature like this done right than just tacked on for the sake of it without the focus it deserves. At least now when the time is right, it will get the focus that those here want it to.

Thanks for the response, Sebastian. I do have a question about that Sandbox mode: is there a limit on the number of seasons and, one of my main concerns from FHM2, in Sandbox mode can we limit the number leagues that are running (such as just NHL, AHL, CHL only) as opposed to every single league running at the same time? Guess that was two questions really

That said, as a recent converter to the online game I cringe at the idea of an any type of "us vs. them", "online vs. single player game" mentality expressed here. I know us online guys certainly aren't presenting this as such.

However, I've noticed it's been repeated ad-nauseam by Sebastian and Markus that FHM is a small portion of a small company, with only two programmers working on FHM right now.

So...I ask the single-player guys this: what have you all done to grow the FHM franchise? Have you forwarded the announcement email to your hockey-loving friends? Have you posted the announcement release on whatever online social networks you frequent? Have you raved about the new release? Have you promoted the game on as many hockey-specific websites and forums as possible?

Because I know the guys in our online league have. They've been on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Operation Sports, Hockey'sFutures, etc., trying to promote the product and generate interest, both last year as a GM recruitment tool for FHM2 (despite it's admitted online issues) and more recently as a way to try to help generate sales for FHM3.

https://twitter.com/iNHL_info/status/779382609562505217

So, as opposed to making fun or dismissing something you don't feel is important *to you*, or posting bull**** memes, why don't we all do what we can to generate interest/excitement/purchases to force/allow Sebastian and the guys at OOTP/FHM to hire more help.

So you say there were online issues with FHM2? Well what if the development team couldn't do enough to fix them and still released with online? Would you be happy? Would you still be spreading the word about FHM? I don't think many people would be and rightfully so. As a result of that fear, an "online vs. single player game" as a priority sounds quite similar to what their discussion might of been. It's a big deal for some as we've seen, and they would of handled it as such and I imagine it got quite heated as well.

What you paraphrased above is the truth. And it's great if people spread the word - that's how this game spreads - but no one owes that to anyone. The NHL License will hopefully help sell and grow the exposure but the game still must receive favorable reviews. It can't do that for a jack of all trades, not yet.

Yeah, I didn't get that vibe at all. Hard to convey tone through message boards, but I did not see any of this.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I'll answer the question: I bought the game and have continued to do so each time a new version is released
