Minor League Pitching Problem

I have 2 pitchers that are similar. One is 23 the other 20. Both have just dominated the AA level

#1 in AA: 2.25ERA 40IP 37H 9BB/25SO
#2 in AA: 2.12ERA 37.2IP 35H 11BB/41SO

However both are pitching to ERA's of 4.50 and 4.97 in AAA

My scouts recommend AAA for both but I'm worried the bad AAA numbers will hurt their ratings

One has a 3(20yr old) in runs and the other a 6...both have 6 in hits

4.50 isn't going to hurt anybody. Don't worry about it.

Patience. I'm having the same thing, only bringing guys into the majors. I have a guy with ratings 6-7-6-5 and he is just getting shelled (ERA over 10 after four starts) in the bigs. I also had another guy with ratings 6-6-5-6 who also got shelled for ERA over 7.00 after five starts. I stuck with him and he got pitcher of the month and is now 6-2 with an ERA right around 4.00 after 11 starts. I think he's going to be a star. Just natural for guys to struggle while adjusting to a higher league. Give them time, they will be fine.

Generally a guy with a rating of 3 or higher in ERA will not be harmed at AAA. It seems like 2s are sometimes iffy, but usually survive.

I'd even consider throwing the guy rated 6 in avoid runs right into the show...unless you have better alternatives already.

I was thinking about that 3 SIM's ago but decided against it because he was not dominating AAA.

My season is in July now and I am a rebuilding team. I figured keep them at AAA for the year and re-evaluate them next season.

One more question.

Say I bring the guy with 6 in runs and 6 in hits to the majors and gets rocked for most of the year. Will his rating suffer? I guess its better for him to get rocked this yr than the beginning of next when I have to chance to field a decent team

Six is good.I've had success with pitchers that have a 6 rating in runs a bunch of times.I would say throw him into the fire baseballgal, and see what he's got.I usually promote my middle relievers when they reach a six and they usually do ok.

Heck, if you're rebuilding, you may as well bring him up. I don't think him getting shelled in his first few outings will hurt his ratings...the better competition may well improve his ratings quicker than sitting at AAA for the rest of the season.

nobody with a 6 in ratings will get rocked too many times to have him suffer. I've had to live with 2 guys used as injury replacements who are 2's in runs and one has an ERA in the high 3's and the other is in the mid 5's.

Update:

Promoted the guy with 6 in runs

First ML start:
2.2IP 6H 5R 2BB 0SO

I am keeping him in the majors for the whole season though..no sense in turning back now

Some times you got to wonder about the scouts reccomendations..

In one of my online leagues I have a guy who the scouts are suggesting is ready for AAA. However he has a 0 in AR still and is only 21. His hits rating is 4 VS R and 3 VS L.. He is at .500 right now and has a ERA of just slightly under 4.00 ( I think 3.96 from memory). In this case I decided to leave him at AA and see what happens.

In your case, since you said you are rebuilding, I would bring the guy who had a 6 in AR up for sure. When I rebuild I usually will bring up a guy once he gets to 5 and in a couple of cases a 4, if his other ratings are solid enough.
