Question
Runner on first and second. Runner on second successfully steals 3B, runner on 1B also moves up to 2B. I always thought this was considered a double steal and both runners are awarded a stolen base. Just played a game this morning and this occurred and only the lead runner was credited with a stolen base. Is this right?

No. It should be a double steal.
The only way it isn't is if the second runner did NOT try and steal but the ball was thrown away and he advanced on the error.

Didn't see anything about that in the play by play so I'm guessing this is an OOTP scoring error. I'm playing 16, so it may be something that's been corrected already. I just thought maybe I was wrong in assuming both runners get a stolen base. Being wrong is something I've turned into an art form.

David,
I've noticed this as well. On several occasions both runners are credited with a steal but on others only the lead runner is credited. It seems to depend on if, and to which base, the catcher throws. I've never noticed in previous versions and I play out most of my team's games. |

I never noticed the trail runner NOT getting credited with the SB. I'll start paying closer attention.

I have done a lot of double steals. Just recently, I had a runner thrown out at second. First time I have seen that.

I think this is how the Outcome Function derives its product.
Specifically, I was under the assumption that the season's end result in a specific stat was driven by the league modifiers. Thus, I was under the impression that the end result, x, was determined first. Then the end result is allocated through some sort of ratings distribution function. My assumption, at this point, is that x is divided by the league's total number of y (total rating points for a specific stat). x/y=SBpct Then as the season progresses the distribution is recalculated specific to each AB. The ABoutcome function then is modified by SBpct outcome and a stat is generated. SBpct * ABoutcome I'm not so sure, assuming all of this is the case, that the OOTP in-game engine has a defined defensive-indifference function built within the ABoutcome. It simply abstracts the result by distributing SB unevenly on double steals. If this is the case, Matt or...what's his face, Mark-something? Anyway...It looks like it could be a fairly simple fix. Random thoughts.
