I will think about this only for his leadership, but honestly I don't need another catcher around. Monte is now 0-12 with 4 walks and 2 K's during his tenure here. GM Notes: This team misses Matt Douglas. He is best man for the top of the lineup. He is our table setter. Manny Hernandez isn't too bad, but just doesn't of the OBP that Douglass has. one thing I like about Manny is he can steal, however he hasn't much this season. Tim Burman is one of those guys full of talent just not sure how to hone it all in and play to his fullest. In April he came out of the gates firing hitting .280-3-12, then he hit .200 in May, with 3 RBI's, followed that with a .162 June, with only 2 RBI's... then July he hit the ball better .268-3-10, and finally in August? Well he is back to the slumping kind hitting.167 with only 3 RBI's! He is 7 for his last 59. If I was running the show he'd be on the bench, but I am not and he is in the lineup day in and day out. Yes he is one of our better, if not the best, defenders, but man he has to start hitting consistently. He is too good for this. Laz Tadiotto is finally finding his groove. After 4 years he has seemed to put it all together. Setting a career high in wins. I just hope this is the real Laz and he can do this again next season. He is my veteran in the rotation, and I need that. Two weeks in a row we put up 2 and 4 records. Maybe that is a sign that we are just a .400 team. I, however, do not believe that. I think we are capable of so much more... I am honestly just ready for this season to get over so we can focus on 2034, our updated stadium, another year of player development and more prospects ready to game. Lets hurry this up... This offense is so frustrating. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 70-52 (+15.5) DE Northern: Newark Millers: 75-48 (+20) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 77-46 (+4) WC: Lewes Braves (DEA): 73-50 (+10) MV Beltway: Annapolis Admirals: 74-49 (+4) MV Mountain: Richmond Cardinals: 75-48 (+16) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 79-44 (+16) WC: Washington Senators (MVB): 70-53 (+7) Players of the Week: Delaware: Ryan Sirett, Cape May Beacons: 13-22, 3 HR's, 7 RBI's, 7 R's MarVa: Ray Green, Annapolis Admirals: 11-23, HR, 5 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Norfolk Cavaliers (122.6) 2) Georgetown Sixteens (112.7) 3) Lewes Braves (110.8) 4) Richmond Cardinals (110.8) 5) Annapolis Admirals (110.3) News: Milton Brewers: Lost their ace Fernando Fareles for 6-months after a freak accident at home. Fareles claims he was bending over tying his shoe when he tore his meniscus, but many insiders are doubting this. Fareles ends his season going 13-7 3.74 in 23 starts. Ocean City Tourists: C Antonio Castaneda slugged 3 HR's in 4 AB's against the Cannons, driving in 8! Annapolis Admirals: SS Ray Green had his 22-game hitting streak stopped. He is now hitting .326 on season. Ellicott City Express: Iron man OF Ken Fletcher announced he is going to retire at season's end. The 38-year-old clubhouse leader is slumping this season hitting only .157-4-21. On his career Fletcher has hit .221 with 192 HR's. Milestones: Washington Senators: OF Wayne Weaver collected hit #2000 this week during a 3 for 5 performance. The 34-year-old Weaver has put up some solid career numbers including a .285 average, 945 RBI's, 1348 R's, 257 HR's and 357 SB's. On the Season Weaver is hitting .293-13-49 his first in DC. Weaver is looking to hit 43 more HR's during his career to join a small list of players with 300 HR's and 300 steals: Jeff Lewis: 412 HR, 487 SB Sergio Galvez: 315 HR, 326 SB Roberto Perez: 306 HR, 418 SB Wayne Weaver: 257 HR, 357 SB The only other active player who currently has this milestone in his sights is Mike Johnson with 206 HR and 266 SB. Injuries however have plagued him of late and is stolen bases have dropped. It will be interesting to see how this one-time MVP fares over the rest of his career.

I am disappointed we didn't do better. Two L's in extra's. I need this offense to do more. I would like to see someone step-up (develop) over the off-season and become that offensive leader we need! Carlos Sanchez is either looking for a change of scenery and raising his stock or has finally hit his groove. I know I was expecting more from him this season, but a small injury and a slump really put the dumps on it. However this week he seemed to pitch well in 2 games, and I really hope this is a sign to come. He already lost the #1 slot to Carl Oulton, which no one expected to happen... if that is the case he will be disappointed, because I am not going to trade him. He is my "ace" who is going to lead this team into the playoffs. I still don't have a contract, so I am hoping that the owner is just waiting till the end of the year to offer me a deal. I feel like I have done a lot to warrant a contract and I have built this team to a point where we could really do some damage in the near future. No we may not win it all next season, but we are getting close to having a solid team. The painful news for 2034? Is we are looking at yet another budget cut. We had a $71M budget for one season, which was so nice, and then it was dropped down to $65M a huge $6M cut... And currently we are projected to have a $61M budget for 2034!!! WHAT? How am I supposed to make things happen and contend, let alone build from within, when I keep getting my budget pinched? That part of it all makes me ready to move on... I just have too much unfinished business here in CF though... ugh. Matt Noble could barely pitch in a game last season, for some reason he wasn't respected enough to get the call. A few trades later, and he is now one of our set-up men and doing an admirable job. I don't see him being the set-up man of the future, but for now he is getting people out and it looks like he will be a serviceable and inexpensive reliever for many years down the road. As we creep up on September 1 I will have some decisions to make. Do i bring up the young guns or do I just keep them down on the farm and let them finish out their season and not get the clock started. I will be calling up a few guys but I am just not sure how many. I am thinking if I don't get resigned for 2034 I am going to go after one of the other expansion teams and try to lead them... I need this to make my career a success. Lead an expansion team to the promise land! ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 71-57 (+12.5) DE Northern: Newark Millers: 76-53 (+18) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 80-49 (+5) WC: Lewes Braves (DEA): 75-54 (+6) MV Beltway: Annapolis Admirals: 79-50 (+5) MV Mountain: Richmond Cardinals: 77-52 (+15) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 84-45 (+17) WC: Washington Senators (MVB): 74-55 (+7) Players of the Week: Delaware: Itocravo Peral, Seaford Blue Jays: 11-22, 3 HR's, 10 RBI's MarVa: Jimmy Moore, Annapolis Admirals: 11-25, 2 HR's, 9 RBI's, 6 R's Power Rankings: 1) Norfolk Cavaliers (122.2) 2) Annapolis Admirals (117.2) 3) Georgetown Sixteens (113.6) 4) Washington Senators (109.3) 5) Richmond Cardinals (108.4) News: Baltimore Barons: Lost 1B Juan Moreno for 3-weeks. August 2033 - In Review
Players of the Month - August 2033
![]() Delaware Conference Torres Takes DE Conf's Best Bat Trophy: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 29-year-old Pedro Torres put together a solid offensive month for Milton and was crowned August's top batter in the Delaware Conference. He batted .351 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored. To date this season Torres is hitting .296 with 18 home runs. DE Conf Announces August's Best Starter: Veteran Ricardo González put together quite a successful stretch in August for the Georgetown Sixteens, earning himself the Delaware Conference Pitcher of the Month award. González racked up a 4-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 1.79 ERA over 40.1 innings and striking out 55. In 28 starts this season González has recorded a 22-3 record and a 1.90 ERA. DE Conf Selects Rookie Star of the Month: Patrick McGee is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Delaware Conference Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In August the Chadds Ford hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .258 average with 24 hits, 7 home runs and 14 RBIs. McGee is batting at a .270 pace this season, picking up 71 hits in 263 at-bats with 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 40 runs scored. MarVa Conference Great August Gets Peña MV Conf Best Hitter Award: Lúcio Peña battered MarVa Conference pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around DELMARVA Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Peña told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, Peña hit .314 with 13 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 28 runs. Currently Peña is batting .298 with 38 home runs and 105 RBIs. Tourists Hurler Named MV Conf's Best Starter: Júlio Rocha's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 6-0 in August, the 32-year-old Ocean City hurler has been named MarVa Conference Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 46 in 47.2 innings, logged an ERA of 0.94 and allowed opponents to hit .220 against him. In 25 starts this season, Rocha has picked up 15 wins while suffering 7 losses. He has pitched 188.1 innings, allowed 168 hits, struck out 181 and posted a 3.15 ERA. MarVa Conference Names Rookie of Month: Hank Davis earned August's Rookie of the Month honors in the MarVa Conference for last month's performance. The boyish Richmond first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Davis hit .319 with 10 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. Currently Davis is batting .314 with 33 home runs and 89 RBIs. Standings - September 1st, 2033 The Colonial Division is all but locked up with the Milford Clippers holding on to an 11-game lead. They have a magic # of 21 and have been smooth sailing for a while now. In the Northern Division the Newark Millers are just about ready to celebrate, holding a 17 game lead. With a magic number of 14 the Millers should be celebrating soon. In hte Atlantic Division there is a three tam battle for the top slot and the wild card. The Georgetown Sixteens hold a 6-game lead over the Lewes Braves, who hold a 7 game lead over the Milton Brewers in the wild card. It might be an interesting month with the Sixteens battling a lineup of injuries. The Sixteens magic number is 25 and the Braves for the wild card is 24. Over in the MarVa Conference the Admrials have pulled away and now own an 8 game lead over the Senators, with a magic number of 23. The Senators are in a battle for the wild card holding on to a 6-game lead against the Surf Dawgs, with a magic number of 25. The Richmond Cardinals have just about punched their way into the playoffs yet again, holding a 14-game lead over the Express with a magic number of 17. The Norfolk Cavaliers have pulled away over the past month+ and now hold a 19 game lead over the Surf Dawgs and have the lowest magic number in the DBL at 12. The Surf Dawgs (-6) and Blue Crabs (-8) are battling for that wild card slot, which is going to make September an important month for both of those teams.

I wanted to get Tadsuke on the roster to see what he could do. He had a rough debut, but hopefully that was just nerves he should be a big help next season. Other/Roster News: none GM Notes: After a wonderful 15-11 July, I really thought we were turning the corner, but wow was I wrong. The 9-18 August, the worse month of the year appeared! I am not sure what is going on with this team, but I do hope that the call-ups will spark some kind of energy and excitement in this team... it is getting frustrating, specially with my job on the line. And in all honesty, this 1-6 week might have been the nail in the coffin. Hopefully we will get a good look at the young guys and see what they are all about. We have 9 players on our roster who are making or made the debut this season. We currently have 35 players on our active roster so it will be interesting to see how coaching staff works everyone in. Our minor league's have bee awful, despite having the #5 minor league system. San Juan, our AAA team, is 3 games out, and have the best chance off doing something but with limited games left it is not looking good. Carl Oulton has been awesome this season especially for a team that is 57-79. This season as a 23-year-old he his 11-10 2.91 with 120 K's. He may just be the team's MVP this season. I have been blown away by his performance. I am really excited to see him next season. He just keeps getting better. If I am here next season I am going to try to deal Ryan Urbina. I feel like I have young guys that can do what he has done (.246-3-56). He isn't worth as much as he was in 2029 when he slugged 52 dingers, but I feel like I should be able to get something for him. To replace him I have Lawrence Harrison (.255-7-18, 56 G) and Carroll Johnson (.315-13-62, 97 G in AAA). I will have my hands full during the off-season trying to get this team ready for a playoff run. I do feel like we have the pitching, yes the bullpen wasn't nearly as good as last season, but they will get there and our starters are going to be better next season than this... If I can make one, maybe 2, trades we could be right there. This streak of poor play has pushed us 6-games out of 2nd place and I really thought we were going to finish in second this season... painful, just painful... What the heck, I guess that is what losing does to you. I will have to target the slackers and get them out of here next season... one player who I know isn't the hardest worker out there is Carl Oulton and he is my best pitcher, so hmm... We were also officially eliminated from the playoffs... then again I was pretty sure we were "eliminated" from the playoffs sometime in June. 4 years, no playoffs... the worst part of it all is we took a step back this season from last year. Not a big one, but still a young team, with talent, we should be moving forward! One thing I am paying attention to as the end of the year comes to a close is which one of these "young" guy or guys is going to make a name for themselves to be put on the radar for 2034. Right now the big battle is going to be catcher, I have gone back and forth with a few guys this season, but the way Alton Howard is playing now and Patrick McGee played this season they may be the favorites for a roster in 2034. Alton Howard: 8-22 / .364-0-1, 7 G Patrick McGee: .261-13-36, 85 G Donald Hampton: .135-1-3, 14 G David Cornett: .261-0-2, 7 G Cornett, McGee and Howard are all "high" on the leader ability, which is something you really want/need in a catcher. And all 3 of them are better defenders than Hampton. I am thinking about bringing Hampton and/or Cornett into spring to try to learn 1B. It might be nice to have them around. Hampton could use some more minor league seasoning, but the other 3 are ready to go. To return to something I mentioned last week.. if I am here in 2034 trading Ryan Urbina is my #1 off-season priority. He is due a team high $6,500,000 and he it is obvious that he has a horrible work ethic and no ability to lead. If I am going to keep a 30-year-old around, who leads the team in salary he better offer something more than a 'low' work ethic and leader ability! I just hope over the next 18-games we can put some W's on the board an end the season with a little momentum and our heads high. This has been a very long up and down year for us. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 78-64 (+12.5, M8) DE Northern: Newark Millers: 83-60 (+16, M4) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 90-53 (+9, M11) WC: Lewes Braves (DEA): 75-54 (+5, M15) MV Beltway: Annapolis Admirals: 91-52 (+12, M8) MV Mountain: Richmond Cardinals: 86-57 (+15, M5) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 93-50 (+20, X) WC: Washington Senators (MVB): 79-64 (+6, M14) Players of the Week: Delaware: Pancho Sanchez, Georgetown Sixteens: 12-22, 2 HR's, 7 RBI's MarVa: Rafael Piedada, Washington Senators: 16-24, RBI, 8 R's Power Rankings: 1) Annapolis Admirals (123.5) 2) Georgetown Sixteens (116.3) 3) Norfolk Cavaliers (116.1) 4) Richmond Cardinals (114.3) 5) Milford Clippers (105.9) News: Baltimore Barons: Lost OF Rafael Estrada for the rest of the season. New Castle Colonials: Will be with out 26-year-old SP Juan Durango for the rest of the season. Durango has a partially torn UCL and is expected to miss 4-months. He has put up impressive numbers this season: 17-7 2.64 Baltimore Barons: Lost OF Jose Silva for the season. The Barons will need to find a replacement of the oft-injured Silva, who is out for at least 4-weeks with a fractured rib. Over 96-games this season Silva hit .301-1-35 Norfolk Cavaliers: Officially clinched the division title, their 18th in a row. With 3-weeks of games left there are only 2 races that people are watching this season, but both seem to be over...

After further evaluation, by team trainer Flint Rooks, he was diagnosed with shoulder inflammation. Rooks said have him take time off and no baseball four 4-months. It could have been worse for the 24-year-old Tadasuke. Hopefully he will return in 2034 ready to go, because there is a roster slot waiting for him. Other/Roster News: none GM Notes: It is pretty said when a 3 and 3 week feels like a huge accomplishment, but that is how it felt this week. Overall we played well we just didn't get the W's we needed. This has been a bad season, we are going to finish with a worse record than we did last year (unless we win 7 of our final 13) and our attendance has crashed 12% from last year. All this really comes back on me I am the one putting the players out there. I built this team this is on me. All that being said if we can come back with the same rotation and they can stay healthy we will have a good year next season. Health is the key. Look at these starters: Carl Oulton (11/12, 13/13, 14/16) Carlos Sanchez (12/12, 13/13, 14/15) Laz Tadiotto (12/12, 13/13, 13/13) Jason Lancaster (12/14, 12/12, 12/13) Jesus Lugo (11/13, 11/12, 13/16) Then there is the guys in the minors and the DL: John Denton (12/14, 13/13, 15/17) Tadasuke Uenohra (11/13, 13/14, 10/13) Eric Harmon (9/12, 12/13, 11/16) Gallin Krall (8/12, 11/13, 10/16) That is a deep staff! If all these guys hit their marks we will have a 5-man rotation and a solid bullpen to build from. Its great... I just hope that our owner see's what I have done for this team's future. After missing 12 months of baseball, with a torn UCL that resulted in Tommy John, Dan Kessler made it back to the bigs. He pitched in 2 games last week giving up a run in 1/3 of an inning on a hit and awalk, but them had a solid 2.1 inning performance the next day walking 1 and striking out 2. He should be back in a Cannons uniform next season. Our AAA team finished their season going 1-5 and falling out of playoff contention... I was looking over the stats of the Chadds Ford Cannons through the years and I found it interesting that this season we coudl end up with our highest batting average and lowest ERA in team history. Yet that just didn't translate into the W's I was expecting at the beginning of the season... We are way off of what was predicted for us. 76 wins was a huge jump and if we didn that I am pretty sure I would be back next season. At this point I am not sure if I will be asked back. Lets get this thing over with... hopefully with some more W's. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 82-66 (+14.5, X) DE Northern: Newark Millers: 88-61 (+19, X) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 94-55 (+9, M5, clinched playoff birth) WC: Lewes Braves (DEA): 85-64 (+6, M8) MV Beltway: Annapolis Admirals: 97-52 (+16, X) MV Mountain: Richmond Cardinals: 89-60 (+15, X) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 98-51 (+20, X) WC: Washington Senators (MVB): 81-68 (+3, M11) Players of the Week: Delaware: Edward Barnes, Milton Brewers: 11-24, 2 HR's, 11 RBI's MarVa: Jimmy Moore, Annapolis Admirals: 12-20, 4 HR's, 6 RBI's Power Rankings: 1) Annapolis Admirals (132.2) 2) Norfolk Cavaliers (129.4) 3) Georgetown Sixteens (116.6) 4) Richmond Cardinals (113.5) 5) Newark Millers (113.3) News: Annapolis Admirals: 3B Juan Garcia is on a hot streak, hitting in 20 straight games. Raising his season average to .270. Milford Clippers: Powering hitting C Pedro Cantu crushed 3-HR's against the Wilmington Iron Pigs during a game to remember. The catcher went 3-5, with 3 HR's while driving in 4. The only races truly remaining are for the Wild Card, and only one of them really seems to be a interesting one. The Surf Dawgs continue to close the gap against the Senators. Could end up being an interesting final 2 weeks.

With Win González Sets Record
With Win González Sets Record:
An amazing season for Ricardo González of the Georgetown Sixteens reached its climax today, as the Georgetown Sixteens's starting pitcher set the league record for most wins in a single season with 26, passing the great Robert Walker. Fans at Ballpark of Milton gave him a long ovation after the game had ended and the hurler was pushed back onto the field by his teammates for a curtain call. This year González has gone 26-4 with an ERA of 2.07 and has 340 strikeouts in 260.2 innings. -- Not only had Ricardo Gonzalez set the all-time record for W's in a season he also broke his own record for K's in a season. With all the injuries the Sixteens have had this season the one constant has been Gonzalez. He has won the pitcher of the month award every month and has put together one of the best and most dominate seasons by a pitcher ever. When this season is over, if the Sixteens and Gonzalez can't come to an agreement Gonzalez becomes a free-agent. Making $23,900,000 this season, the second highest salary in the league, as a 30-year-old it will be interesting to see what kind of offers he receives. He has at least 3 more solid seasons before a decline, at least that would be my guess... Just an amazing player...

We just beat 2 division leaders 2 of 3 games each. That is mighty impressive. We have really show shines of greatness, but then turn around and looked awful. Based on that I really feel like we are close to just breaking out. Francisco Villalobos (.341-4-17) and Ernesto Condarco (.371-5-11 in Sept) have both started to hit the ball better. Makes me feel good about the 2034 season. These two guys should be the heart of my lineup. Surrounded by Matt Douglas, Juan Guzman, Collin Mellis and Carrol Johnson. Our offense could be the best offense we have ever had in CF... I am not sure what happened to Condarco in June it is almost as if he forgot out to play the game hitting just .115-1-5 in 104 AB's (25 G). One of the first things I wrote about this season was my nervousness about Jonathan Loeffler being the closer. He struggled in a short time last season and in the first week, but after that he has been pretty lights out. He has proved me wrong and will be the closer of this team for the future. In 30 save opportunities he has closed it off 28 times while posting a 2.27 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP. With Loeffler, Douglas and Karadzic on the roster and playing key roles our first 3 #1 draft picks are with the big club. I am hoping next season we will see a couple more later round draft picks start popping up. Eugene Todd our #2 pick from 2030 is getting close to being ready, Eric Harmon our #3 pick in 2031 should make his debut in 2034, everyone else is a season or 3 away. Ryan Urbina is going to be moved in the off-season and the other play I have to think about is Tim Burman. Burman has a load of talent but is only hitting .214-12-42 on the year. The problem is he is a slacker to the 10th degree, but a team leader. What? Yeah how does that work? So do I keep him around as the leader, and overlook his slacking, in hopes we win some games and the clubhouse moods change? I really like Burman, I think he will break out soon, which makes moving him harder... He will make around $1M next season hitting arbitration, and with our current contracts I can't give him an extension or anything. We really are in a financial mess for 2034. The projections are that Ralph Corbin is going to slash our budget down to $4M, despite us having another season in the green, around $10M in the green our second highest income every. I really hope Corbin doesn't tinker with the budget, because it is only going to make my job harder. Plus he "expects" us to be in the playoffs next year! Nothing like an owner that understands that you have to pay to keep the good guys around. ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 87-67 (+16, X) DE Northern: Newark Millers: 90-55 (+20, X) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 97-58 (+7, M1, clinched playoff birth) WC: Lewes Braves (DEA): 90-65 (+9, X) MV Beltway: Annapolis Admirals: 99-56 (+16, X) MV Mountain: Richmond Cardinals: 94-61 (+15, X) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 99-56 (+19, X) WC: Washington Senators (MVB): 83-72 (+3, M5) Players of the Week: Delaware: Ryosei Aoki, Milford Clippers: 9-21, 3 HR's, 6 RBI's MarVa: Ray Nikkola, Salisbury Ports: 9-19, 3 HR's, 7 RBI's, 6 R's Power Rankings: 1) Annapolis Admirals (118.0) 2) Georgetown Sixteens (115.6) 3) Richmond Cardinals (114.2) 4) Norfolk Cavaliers (113.0) 5) Milford Clippers (112.7) News: Wilmington Iron Pigs: Were the first team to make a personnel move firing GM Lester Clark. Clark has been the GM in Wilmington for 4 seasons, making the playoffs in 2031. Annapolis Admirals: 3B Juan Garcia has his hitting streak stopped at 24-games, the 2nd longest this season (Oliver Ramos, 25). Georgetown Sixteens: Lost another player, when it was announced MR Ramon Tirado (6-1 1.65, 43 SV) would be shut down for the rest of the season with a hamstring strain. Tirado is the 8th player on the Sixteens roster who will miss the playoffs. Seaford Blue Jays: After unable to make a deal for closer Miguel Angel Rivera, signed him to a 2-year extension. The 27-year-old is set to make $12.2M over the next two years. Rivera saved 28 games this season while posting a 5-5 3.26 record. Milestones: Milford Clippers: 1B Enzo Allard, who has quietly put together a solid career collected his 2000th hit. Allard is 36, and had an off season this year, so it will be interesting to see where his career goes. For his career Allard has hit .282-265-1035, with 6 Glove Wizard Awards.

September 2033 - In Review
Players of the Month - September 2033
![]() Delaware Conference DE Conf Announces Best Batter Award: In September, Chadds Ford Cannons third baseman Francisco Villalobos claimed the Delaware Conference Batter of the Month award. The 27-year-old swung with confidence, hitting .346 with 8 home runs, 30 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Currently Villalobos is batting .289 with 27 home runs and 101 RBIs. González Voted Best DE Conf Pitcher in September: Veteran Ricardo González put together quite a successful stretch in September for the Georgetown Sixteens, earning himself the Delaware Conference Pitcher of the Month award. González racked up a 5-1 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.87 ERA over 47 innings and striking out 60. In 34 starts this season González has chalked up a 27-4 record and a 2.07 ERA. Francisco Villalobos Triumphs in DE Conf Rookie Vote: The Delaware Conference Rookie of the Month has been picked for September and the honor went to the Chadds Ford Cannons hitting machine, Francisco Villalobos. During the last month he compiled a .346 batting average with 36 hits and 8 home runs, along with 30 RBIs and 17 runs scored. In his 2033 season totals, Villalobos has 27 home runs, .289 BA, .352 OBP, 101 RBIs and 64 runs scored. MarVa Conference MV Conf Batter of the Month Honors to Peña: Lúcio Peña battered MarVa Conference pitchers all September and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around DELMARVA Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Peña told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 27 games, Peña hit .302 with 15 home runs, 30 RBIs and scored 24 runs. Peña currently has a .299 batting average with 154 hits, 53 homers, 135 RBIs, 128 runs scored and a .392 OBP. MarVa Conference Announces September's Top Pitcher: The Pitcher of the Month Award has been announced and the MarVa Conference winner is Richmond hurler, Earl Fuller. For his fine efforts in September he has been named the league's #1 pitcher. During the month, Fuller excelled with a 1.45 ERA and 6 wins and no losses. In 43.1 innings he struck out 29 and gave up 30 hits and 10 walks. Checking out his stats for the season, Fuller has notched 22 wins and 5 losses in 33 starts, 3.14 ERA and struck out 151 batters in 218 innings. MarVa Conference Names Rookie of Month: Reynaldo Martínez earned September's Rookie of the Month honors in the MarVa Conference for last month's performance. The boyish King George first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level. Martínez hit .316 with 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 16 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award. Thus far this year Martínez has hit .255 with 24 home runs and 100 RBIs. Standings - September 1st, 2033 In the DE Conference everything has been decided, in the MV Conference the wild card race looks to be coming down to a great final 2 games. Colonial Division: Milford Clippers - Make the playoffs for the first time since 2024 and their fourth time in their history. They do have titles in 2021 and and 2022. Northern Division: Newark Millers - The Millers make the playoffs for the second time in a row and the third time in their history. Atlantic Division: Georgetown Sixteens - The Sixteens will make their third playoff appearance and first since 2030. They own one title in 2029. They have also set a team record for W's winning over 100 games for the first time in team history. DE Wild Card: Lewes Braves - The Braves reach the playoffs via wild card for the third straight season. They have a total of 11 playoff appearances and a DE Conference high 5 titles. Beltway Division: Annapolis Admirals - The Admirals reach the playoffs for the 2nd time in a row, third time in the past 4 and 8th time in team history. Mountain Division: Richmond Cardinals - The Cardinals reach the playoffs for the second time in team history, making the playoffs in 2031 for the first time. Coastal Division: Norfolk Cavaliers - The Cavaliers reach the playoffs for the 19th team and win their division for the 18th time in a row. They have a DelMarVa BL high 10 Championship titles. MV Wild Card: The Wild Card was the Senators to lose and after a 2-8 record over their last 10 games they have just about given away. The Surf Dawgs will finish their season in Ocean City facing Julio Rocha (17-8 3.02) and Juan Ornelas (7-17 5.54) while the Senators host the Salisbury Ports and face off against Jesus Miranda (9-18 4.29) and Jose Guzman (10-11 4.60). In simulations the Surf Dawgs are the favorites to win it, but if the Senators offense can wake up that could change. Should be fun.

I will take it! Now just to build this team a little more, make us a little stronger and deeper and we will be good to go. I have my goals I just hope I will be here to reach them. I think if the owner, Corbin, gives me one more season I will have the proof that this team is headed in the right direction! Based on his final month tear it looks like Francisco Villalobos will be taking home the rookie of the year crown. What an amazing season for the 27-year-old Mexican import. The biggest thing he did this year was drive in over 100 runs, the first time anyone has done that in Chadds Ford. What a season he put together. He is all over the leader board as well including #9 in Average, #5 in OPS, # in WAR, # 6 in SLG, #5 in 2B, #4 in XB hits and #4 in Total Bases! Great season. Carl Oulton wasn't the best pitcher out there, and for a team that finished with only 71 teams it is pretty amazing to see him listed as the #2 pitcher in WAR, and tied for the lead in shutouts (with 3). I am not sure how that happened, but its pretty awesome. Laz Tadiotto was #8. Where would we have been without Laz and Oulton? One thing I do worry about is the amount of innings he pitched. He is only 23-years-old and he threw a career high 248.2 innings... If it wasn't for Ricardo Gonzalez he might actually have a shot at the Golden Arm Award. The one thing I have tried to do here in Chadds Ford is to continue to get better. And that is what we have done. I wrote a few weeks ago about how we weren't going to win more games than we did last year, but somehow we did it. We ended up +2 games from last year and have continued to get better each season: 58 to 61 to 69 to 71. I think that 71 is a big deal, we are close to hitting .500 all you have to do is be .574 to make the playoffs. Now for the off-season, but first things first... I am waiting for Corbin to reach out and bring me back for another season. I have a lot left to prove... I have to say finishing strong brings a smile to my face and a breath of fresh air. This team, with this core, is going to win it all one day... ![]() Standings Leaders DE Colonial: Milford Clippers: 91-71 (+14, X) DE Northern: Newark Millers: 94-68 (+20, X) DE Atlantic: Georgetown Sixteens: 103-59 (+10, X) WC: Lewes Braves (DEA): 93-69 (+8, X) MV Beltway: Annapolis Admirals: 105-57 (+20, X) MV Mountain: Richmond Cardinals: 99-63 (+17, X) MV Coastal: Norfolk Cavaliers: 105-57 (+21, X) WC: Washington Senators (MVB): 85-77 (+1, X) Players of the Week: Delaware: MarVa: Power Rankings: 1) Annapolis Admirals (118.0) 2) Georgetown Sixteens (115.6) 3) Richmond Cardinals (114.2) 4) Norfolk Cavaliers (113.0) 5) Milford Clippers (112.7) News: Seaford Blue Jays: 1B Ralph Anderson hit for the cycle against the Colonials. Anderson was 5-8 during the 17-inning game. A triple in the 4th, a HR in the 8th, a double in the 10th, and, then finally, a single in the 15th. He made the most of the Extra innings, collecting another single in the 17th and driving in 3 on the day. Dover Generals: 37-year-old OF/1B Wally Lambert announced he was retiring at seasons end. Over his 1586-game career Lambert hit .274-242-809 with 1514 hits. Chadds Ford Cannons: 3B Francisco Villalobos ended the season going 1-6 increasing his hitting streak to 20-games. We will have to wait till next year to see how this turns out. News: González Dominates DE Conf, Wins Triple Crown: You wouldn't have to be a baseball genius to think Ricardo González will win the coveted Golden Arm Award this year. The Georgetown Sixteens ace certainly has the numbers to take it, topping the Delaware Conference with 27 wins, 2.07 ERA and 345 strikeouts to win the Pitching Triple Crown. "It's a great accomplishment," González said told reporters, "but my main goal is to go out there and win every game. The stats are nice, but they don't tell the whole story. The 27 wins are what I'm most proud of." - His 3rd Triple Crown, while setting records in K's per season and W's Kirk 2033 DE Conf Batting Champ: At any age where many of his peers are still trying to establish themselves in DELMARVA Baseball League, Tom Kirk of the Newark Millers stepped up to win a Delaware Conference batting title, with a .308 mark. On the season, he compiled 161 hits, 47 doubles, 1 triple and 19 home runs. In 142 games Kirk totaled 83 RBIs and scored 73 runs. Rafael Piedade Wins 2033 MV Conf Batting Crown: Rafael Piedade may not have the years of experience that many DELMARVA Baseball League stars have, but he's already got a batting title, at age 22. The Washington Senators center fielder captured the MarVa Conference crown this past season, with a .385 average. The star player collected 191 hits, 17 doubles, 12 triples and 5 home runs for the year. In 120 games Piedade totaled 31 RBIs and scored 98 runs. - His .385 average is a DBL record. Playoff Bound: Senators Win Wild Card: There's more drama in store for fans of the Washington Senators. The team has narrowly won a wild card berth in the season's final days and now will be looking to parlay that into the 2nd League Championship championship in team history. "Never in doubt, we knew we'd get in," joked center fielder Rafael Piedade as he mockingly wiped sweat from his brow. "Now that we're in, we can relax a bit." But there won't be too much relaxing, as the DELMARVA Baseball League playoffs are right around the corner. - Tied with 2 games to go the Surf Dawgs and the Senators the first game setting up for a dramatic final day of the regular season. The Surf Dawgs would lose 6-5 giving up 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to the Tourists, while the Senators would score 5 runs in the 1st and 3rd innings to put the Ports down and sail to the wild card in a crazy final 2 days. Milestones: Bond Rips HR Number 400: It was a great day for Claude Bond, but not a good one for his Lewes Braves. The 38-year-old third baseman reached a personal milestone with his 400th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Georgetown Sixteens, who came away with a 8-2 victory. Bond finished the day with 2 hits, 2 runs batted in and 1 run scored. "Well, I've conceded the fact that you can't will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate." During his career Bond is hitting .300 with a total of 400 home runs.

It's nice to see that your enthusiasm for the team has been refreshed. It was looking grim for a while there in the middle of the season...

Wildcard Round - 2033
Georgetown Takes The Wild Card: While it wasn't a complete mismatch, the Georgetown Sixteens showed themselves to be the superior team in the The Wild Card, downing the Milford Clippers 3-1.
"Nothing is ever easy in the DELMARVA Baseball League playoffs. Whether you're a favorite or an underdog, you can't take anyone lightly or you'll get burned," said Felipe Hernández, who was named series MVP after a standout offensive performance. Georgetown won the final game by a 8-1 count at Clippers Ballpark to clinch its spot in the next round. They will hope to once again rely on Hernández there, as he hit .375 with 3 home runs, 6 RBI 5 runs scored during the series. The Georgetown Sixteens will play against the Lewes Braves in the next round. Lewes won their series against the Newark Millers 3 games to 1. The Conference Championship schedule will be announced after the The Wild Card finishes. Lewes Moves on to Conference Championship: Marvin Garrett wore out opposing pitchers en route to being named The Wild Card MVP. The star's Lewes Braves defeated the Newark Millers by a series score of 3-1 to advance to the Conference Championship. Lewes won the final game by a 3-2 count in front of a raucous crowd at Braves Ballpark. Garrett hit .333 with a .368 on-base percentage in the series, while also adding 1 home runs, driving in 4 RBI and scoring 2 runs. "Just trying to do my job, that's all there is too it," said Garrett. The Lewes Braves don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Milford Clippers - Georgetown Sixteens series. Georgetown leads the series 2 game to 1. The Conference Championship schedule will be announced after the The Wild Card finishes. Cardinals Win The Wild Card: A 8-0 triumph at Ballpark of Richmond has wrapped up the The Wild Card for the Richmond Cardinals. "We're off to the Conference Championship," said Cardinals catcher Héctor Pagán, who was named series MVP after his club eliminated the Annapolis Admirals by a series score of 3-1. "You can never take a win in a series like this for granted," he said. The Richmond Cardinals will play against the Norfolk Cavaliers in the next round. Norfolk won their series against the Washington Senators 3 games to 0. The Conference Championship schedule will be announced after the The Wild Card finishes. Cavaliers Dominate, Sweep The Wild Card: The Norfolk Cavaliers made it look easy and are heading to the Conference Championship. They have ousted the Washington Senators in a sweep, the final win coming by a 5-2 score, clinching the 3-0 series win. "Everything's clicking for us right now," said Henry Rojas, who was named MVP for the series. Rojas hit .600 with a .583 on-base percentage. He added 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 1 runs. The Norfolk Cavaliers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Richmond Cardinals - Annapolis Admirals series. Richmond leads the series 2 games to 1. The Conference Championship schedule will be announced after the The Wild Card finishes. Including this sensation performance: Cavaliers Kennedy Strikes out 17: Led by an outstanding performance from starter Ernie Kennedy, the Norfolk Cavaliers topped the Washington Senators today by a score of 7-1 at Caviliers Ballpark. The 28-year-old Kennedy brought his top game to the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing 4 hits and giving up 2 walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Senators manager Bill Patterson said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." So far this season Kennedy has a 18-9 record, 33 starts, 260.1 innings, 258 strikeouts and a 2.66 ERA. ----------- I really don't know how the Sixteens continue to win. They are without two starters (Chris Brock, Gonzalo Bustamante), their closer (Ramon Tirado) and two top hitters (Tom Brown, Blake Quirke). They just continue to find players to fill the holes. The Lewes/Sixteens series is one that should be a beat them up and knock them down series. The only surprise was the Cardinals taking down the Admirals, but it wasn't a HUGE surprise. Both teams had their best seasons ever and now its time for the Cardinals to try to take down their old rival the Cavaliers. Should be a good series.

Conference Championships - 2033
Sixteens Heading to League Championship: After their 7-3 win today at Ballpark of Georgetown over the Lewes Braves, the Georgetown Sixteens will advance to the League Championship. Georgetown won the series by a 4-2 margin.
Leading the way for the Sixteens was starting pitcher Ricardo González, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The Georgetown Sixteens will play against the Norfolk Cavaliers in the next round. Norfolk won their series against the Richmond Cardinals 4 games to 1. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes. Including one the best Conference Championships performances ever, but a guy who is had one of the best pitching years ever. To no ones surprise... Sixteens González Strikes out 16 Braves: Ricardo González of the Georgetown Sixteens put on a pitching clinic today at Ballpark of Georgetown as he struck out 16 Lewes Braves in a 7-3 victory. González, who won the Golden Arm Award in 2032, was simply magnificent as he held the Braves to 4 hits. He walked 2. "I felt okay at the beginning," González said, "but eventually my change up really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game." When asked about González's performance, Sixteens manager Mal Gentry shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was pretty good out there today. He was dominating." This season in 34 starts Ricardo González has a record of 27-4 with 345 strikeouts in 269.2 innings and a 2.07 ERA. Norfolk Win Conference Championship: Manny Vega sparked his Norfolk Cavaliers past the pesky Richmond Cardinals in a closely-contested Conference Championship. Norfolk topped Richmond 13-4 at Ballpark of Richmond to decide the series, 4-1 For his efforts, Vega was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .409 batting average, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "You never want to leave anything on the field," Vega said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win." The Norfolk Cavaliers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lewes Braves - Georgetown Sixteens series. Georgetown leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes. What makes the Cavaliers so dangerous? They have 2 of the games top pitchers on their roster, Joaquin Hernandez and Ernie Kennedy, but they also have a solid #4 who can dominate a game from time to time: Cavaliers SP Davis Tosses Masterpiece: 22-year-old Norfolk Cavaliers pitcher Bob Davis had a strong outing against the Richmond Cardinals at Ballpark of Richmond today, keeping them off the scoreboard the whole game. He struck out 4 in the 1-0 win and walked 3 while surrendering 5 hits. "Hopefully there will be plenty more of these in the future for us," he said. This year Davis has a 16-10 mark in 31 starts with a 3.01 ERA. He has given up 206 hits in 227 innings, struck out 146 and issued 53 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .240 batting average against him. ------------------ I am not sure what is going to go on in the Championship series. I am happy to see both of my former teams showing off and I look for a tight low-scoring series. Both teams have just dominated the second half this year, which should make this a fun series.

2033 Championship Game Preview
This is going to be an interesting series to say the least.
The Sixteens have a lot of players on the DL, but still boost the DE Conference 3rd top scoring offense. Their strong point, however is their pitching, leading the league in Runs Against, Starters ERA and Bullpen ERA. Runs Scored: 730 (3rd) Avg: .252 (5th) HR: 195 (5th) SB: 64 (10th) Runs Against: 588 (1st) Starters ERA: 3.52 (1st) Pen ERA: 3.14 (1st) Def Eff: .708 (6th) The Cavaliers on the other hand are only down one of their top hitters, Trevor Parker, who has missed a lot of this season injured. But come in ready to go with the games top pitching staff. Runs Scored: 784 (4th) Avg: .269 (4th) HR: 198 (5th) SB: 60 (9th) Runs Against: 524 (1st) Starters ERA: 3.09 (1st) Pen ERA: 2.82 (2nd) Def Eff: .710 (5th) Both of these teams match up well with each other, the Cavaliers play in what many say is the hardest Division in the hardest Conference. The Sixteens would like to prove those people wrong though... Will the pitching of Georgetown hold down the Cavaliers? Will the Cavaliers stop the Sixteens? This is going to be fun... My prediction: Cavaliers in 5.

DelMarVa Championship - 2033
Norfolk Cavaliers Take League Championship:
![]() ![]() With a 5-1 win over the Georgetown Sixteens tonight at Cavaliers Ballpark, the Norfolk Cavaliers wrapped up their 11th title in team history. Norfolk left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Cavaliers celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Norfolk manager Arthur Ray. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Norfolk celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works. Personal messages from Owner Ralph Corbin
Contract Extended!: Congratulations!
After careful consideration, I have decided to extend your contract with the Chadds Ford Cannons. Your new contract is for 1 year and a value of $700,000 per year. Regards, Ralph Corbin New Budget: Tony, I have just decided on your budget for the upcoming season. You will have $61,000,000 available for the total team expenses. Given your current spending on staff and other costs, this should allow you a team payroll of around $40,000,000. You may now set your ticket price for next year. You have until the Winter Meetings end on December 15th, 2033, 48 days from now, to set the price. Season tickets will start selling at that point. You have until the end of the pre-season to set your Scouting Budget, Player Development Budget, Draft Budget, and Intl Amateur FA Budget. You may review all your financials on your front office page . Good Luck! Ralph Corbin -------------- The way the season ended I am excited to be back.... The drop in budget however bothers me. How am I supposed to keep on getting better if I have no money? I will have to make some moves this off season to try to free up some dough. That being said I don't have a whole log of salary to move a lot of kids making $1-2 M.. I am already set on letting Urbina walk if I can't deal him. He is a cancer and I don't want him here. Don't want to get too deep in my plans here, but for now I am back, and I am excited to be here. Watch out for the Cannons in 2034 I have great faith in us... Next up, the first off-season report, the award season, arbitration then the stadium update announce... good times to be in Chadds Ford.

It would appear that the Cannons exist as a vehicle to make Ralph Corbin money, and nothing more. You have a challenge.

It is great that you are excited to be back but an owner like that reminds me of Loria in Miami. All about their pockets.
Not sure how your contracts shape up but hjave you tried locking up the young guys with team friendly deals through arbitration and their first couple of years of free agency. If not, Villalobos would be one I would start with.

I agree on both fronts, its going to be tough. I just wish he could keep the budget the same makes it somewhat easier to plan. Should get interesting this off-season. I need help, but I don't have much ability to make things happen.
