Award Voting Sucks

I am continually perplexed by award voting, especially for the Cy Young. In my my recent season the AL CY winner was 10-9 with a 2.77 ERA and led the league with a .92 WHIP. Second place was 16-5 with a league leading ERA of 2.56 and a 1.06 WHIP. Third was 19-10, 3.32 and 1.07. All 3 were from the same team. The SP I would have chosen was 21-4, 3.36 and 1.16. I can see a case to be made for all but the SP who actually won.

I do not vote as I feel I would be biased toward my players (my guy was the one who went 21-4) but it is frustrating to see a guy who was 10-9 win the Cy Young and my guy isn't even top 3.

Rant over.

The voting tends to incorporate more sabermetric markers as well, rather than just W-L and ERA/WHIP, but even at that it's certainly quite bizarre for a 10-9 pitcher to win the award. I'd say that probably shouldn't ever happen.

If you get a chance and can post screenshots/full-season lines for each of the four guys, it might be help to show whether this was a straight-up ai issue or combination of factors.

Well if he led the league in WHIP, that's a pretty compelling argument there. Would need to see strikeout rates for the guys as well, since that's a pretty heavy component as well.

Felix Hernandez is slightly annoyed by the OP's rage.
