Schedules

Just a quick question about the working of the schedule.

If I use a schedule format, say for 36 team league, with the schedule be the same every year? If so, is there an easy way to edit the schedule via a mod?

The game will rotate the schedule team numbers yearly so you will have a different schedule each year, but if you teams finish the same in the division you won't see much of a change. You can also edit the schedule yourself by exporting the schedule, using wordpad or excel make your changes and then import the schedule back in the game. If you are making a lot of changes this may not be advisable.

An option if you don't like the number of games against each opponent and want a different setup. Say the game gives you 9 games against each opponent (just an example) and you want 12 games in division and 6 games non division, you can request a schedule in the mods area or check the custom schedule list to find one you like. You import the file and if you want the rotation to change the in game rotation system works if you are not too concerned as to how the match up change.

I am here going to plug my tool to allow the end user to modify a schedule in about 10-30 seconds. If you have a base schedule, or want one created by one of the schedule makers in the mods section, I can create a template for you and it only takes me about 30 minutes to do and it give you the utility to change the schedule to your liking annually. I would create and test a template and return it to you within 24 hours. It also works great if your league did not have the same format of a schedule you found. If you had a schedule in a 4/5/5 5/4/5 format as an example or this is your league format and you found a 4/5/5 4/5/5 format, this utility allows you to create a schedule in any format that you league has.

How it works. A base file is loaded, the cells are linked to a table. When you change the table it changes the cells. The schedule utility creates all the lsdl file game data lines. All you need to do is copy and paste the data lines into a copy of the base schedule (remove the game lines first) Simple concept, works great.

Now I will admit I have not had much interest in this, but I think people are only concerned about their original schedule and really don't care about subsequent seasons and accept the rotation that OOTP creates. I do not like the OOTP schedules or the rotation, simply a personal preference, so I wrote the utility to have different schedules yearly. Also I had schedules where a team would only play 1 division in a 4 division league and the utility works great in creating a schedule that changes the division opponent the next season. Non division or Interleague. I guess this utility would only be useful to those that are really serious about their schedules and would like a variety of schedule options in the match ups. You can run this utility 1000 times and not get an exact duplicate.

Any how I will post my utilities. Just check them out. Only takes a few minutes and you may realize what the utility can do for you. Even if you don't think you would need the utility, I would recommend using the mods to create a schedule more to your liking, and have the rotation in game make it's normal changes. The files in the zip include one file that is a short example of how the tables work and the second file is an actual template of an 80 team schedule. You can make a change to a table and instantly see the changes on the schedule match up and the game data line that would be copied into the lsdl file.

Send me a PM or email if you have any questions. I am only posting this here to get more eyes on it....
