MLB Stars being released by AI
Buster Posey - batting over .340 was released - I signed him in August off the FA. He is an 80 rating. AI has got to be smarter than this!
This is one example of many guys well over 50(of 80) rating that get released from MLB instead of Traded, sent down, or DFA. |

This certainly should not be happening. Are you running a standard game, or do you have customized options? These players who were released, were they coming off of injury or anything like that?
I'd need to know more about your league setup as certainly I do not see this in the test leagues that I run. |

I am running a league with many custom options. Yes there are some injured guys at the end of contract years. Matt Carpenter has a Season ending injury...but in reality St Louis would not release him even though his contract was running out. Typically, they'd keep him and decide whether to offer an extension or at least receive compensation. Buster Posey, I signed for 7 million mid season! Well worth it for a WS ring for me, but that shouldn't happen.

In year 2020 now. Several guys getting released that are 60+ rating. They are coming off injuries and being released the day they get off the DL. One guy was batting .360 and an allstar and released in June - as soon as his 5 week DL stint was up.

Are they being sent to a minor league team for rehab assignment, but the league that the team is in has age limits, and the player is above the age limit?
That's how Dustin Pedroia got released in my league - the AI sent him to the GCL Red Sox for a rehab stint, but I had set an age limit of 23 for GCL teams. Obviously he's older than that, so the AI then released him because he was ineligible for the team. There should be some sort of override that age limits don't apply to players on rehab assignments.

I also seen this in my fictional league. A four star first baseman and leading hitter for my Angels team was put ,suddenly, on waivers and taken off the 40 man. The team then signed a 2.5 star first baseman off the mid season free agent market. This guy is leading the team in HRs and RBIs. Looking at the waiver wire, some of the players released previously from other teams were questionable. I just figured the team had bigger prospects to bring up, but this Angel team didn't have any.
