bigphesta-
Patch 5.11 changed the pitching rotation so that the computer would throw 1-2-1-2-3-1-2 in the playoffs no matter what the era was. This was totally unrealistic, so it was changed back to 1-2-3-1-2-3-1. I think you should be able to change it to a 4 man rotation if you'd like, but keeping it as 1-2-1-2-3-1-2 for the computer was not realistic. The league I run, I have no human controlled teams so there was no way to change the rotation AI at all. I don't see how having the computer AI throwing the game 1 starter in game 3 on 2 days rest constitutes being fixed. There has to be a way to make everyone happy in this scenario. I think the way it was in 5.11 was that the computer AI threw a strict 3 man rotation in the playoffs as if it was 1900, meaning the computer pitchers only needed 2 days rest, hence the game 1 starter coming back in game 3. This would happen even if you were running a season in the year 2000. I can't think of one circumstance in recent memory where a manager came back with the game 1 starter in game 3 in ANY circumstance, even down 0-2. Come to think of it, in order to justify 1-2-1-2-3-1-2, I would need to see a hundred real life examples of this, considering the computer will do this EVERY TIME in the playoffs. I just wanted to post this to let you know that not everyone wanted it kept as 1-2-1-2-3-1-2. Maybe for the next patch, there can be a way to make it possible to customize this however you'd like no matter what the specific circumstances in the league you're running. That would be nice. |

Guys.... I'm at work and can't confirm this, but...
It would seem to me that if I wanted to use a rotation (or any other lineup change) different than what the AI provides, I would (1) set both teams to human controlled, (2) make any lineup or rotation changes I wanted on each team, (3) start the game, and then (4) sim the results. I believe, at that point, the AI would take over all the decisions. Isn't that a reasonable workaround ? Henry |

From a historical point of view, one should also remember that prior to around 1960, there were NO off days for travel in the World Series if the cities were close enough together.
Thus, for example, the 1956 WS between the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers was played on consecutive days, with NO off days. Using even the 1-2-3-1-2-3-1 rotation in this case would mean the starter for game 4 would be starting on two days rest. Granted, few people use historically accurate postseason scheduling, but even so, it is another factor to be considered. Perhaps an entirely new way for the AI to determine its postseason pitching rotation, factoring in the number of days of rest that the scheduled starter has had, is in order... |

stupid question. I just reinstalled my copy of OOTP5 tonight after loosing the original due to a Hard drive crash. Do I need to download 5.11 and install it first, or can I go directly with 5.12?

Possible issues
1) Two on line leagues that I know of have suddenly started having trouble with the commish not getting lineups that were definitely sent.
2) I had a relief pitcher show up as tired. He has a D endurance as a starter and a B endurance as a reliever. He threw 16 pitches yesterday and 16 pitches 4 days ago... Assuming that this is wrong and he should not be tired, here's what I think happened. His role was listed as "starter." Could it be that the new "starter tiring as a reliever" coding accidentally overrides a reliever rating when the role is listed as starter? (This guy was not in the rotation -- just a minor leaguer up for a cup of coffee.)

Now that OOTP will be splitting from .400, perhaps we will see patches with greater frequency and/or more features added. Not that he's been a slacker.

But it seems they show as tired, even making one appearance in the last 5 days for as little as 15 pitches. Has anyone found a way around this? (other than changing every single pitcher to "MR").... |

I think it's time to un-sticky this thread and clear up some of the clutter at the top of the forum.
