Worst luck you've had with a single player?
I'm playing as my Red Sox in a normal MLB QS game. Mookie Betts is having a good season, hitting plenty of doubles and being a great leadoff batter. Fast forward to July and Mookie ruptures his achilles tendon. Out eight months. We make the playoffs but lose in the ALCS to the eventual champions, the Astros.
Fast forward again and now it's March 14, 2017. Mookie's first day to play since last July. It's spring training. In his first two at bats he gets two hits. Then, while running the bases, he ruptures his achilles tendon. Again. Out for seven months which means out for all of 2017. /Sigh |

Brought my team to the playoffs for the first time in my 3 years running the helm at 97-65. I have a capable backup at every infield position except shortstop. Game 2 of my first playoff series, my shortstop gets hurt so I have to put my backup 2B there (he's capable enough but has no shortstop experience). Next game, my starting 2B gets hurt so I moved the backup 2B back to 2B and put my backup outfielder at shortstop. Game 6 the backup 2B gets hurt so I had to play my backup catcher at 2B. I went from up 2-0 and outscoring the other team 13-1 in those first 2 games, to losing in 7. :\

Jon Lester was cruising through his second season with the Cubs in 2016 with a 13-4 record. He tore his rotator cuff and was out 9 months.
Came back in 2017 to go 11-4 to then have bone chips in elbow. Out 7 months. Im about to start the 2018 season and see a league message of a set back, out an additional 5 months. This coming from an absolute workhorse with Boston and Oakland. I wouldn't be shocked if his rating take a nosedive or he never makes it back after the setback. |

I posted lasthis night about Lester having a setback and missing another 4-5 months. That email was 2/2/18.
On 3/4/18, the first day of spring training, I just received a new email saying he had another set back and will miss another 6 months. Kind of odd the 2 emails a month apart essentially adding a month or 2 |

It's 2038 in my league. I used a young outfielder in 2037 as my 4th outfielder. He had great potential, but only average current ratings. It was something like:
52/86 Contact 44/87 Power 83/83 eye Expecting this guy to improve, I didn't re-sign an aging OF who had hit 50HR (he was 38). The day before the season started the re-scouting took place. This young star, who had hit pretty well off the bench the previous season, and who had started half the season, went down to: 43/55 Contact 36/45 Power He went from stud to dud. |

Or, he was always a dud, and your scout just finally realized it. That's the other possibility, unless you peaked at his editor ratings. Or you have 100% acccuracy.
