All-Star Ballot Issue
Need help from the community. Either this is a bug or someone needs to explain how the AI selects the players to be included on the All-Star ballot.
I have played through multiple seasons and continue to see the same thing happening where players who are back-ups on teams getting the nod on the ballot over other players, and now I'm seeing players who don't even play a position being listed as the team representative on the ballot. Case in point, my catchers. My starter has 148 AB, and his line is .230/.263/.439, however, the AI has chosen my BACK-UP catcher to represent my team on the all-star ballot. He (my back-up) has 24 AB with a line of .125/.300/.292. The AI has also decided to list Dan Vogelbach as the CF representative for the CHW, even though he has only played one game at CF the entire season and doesn't even have a rating at CF. The CHW have Daniel Fields as their starting CF, but it has overlooked him in favor of Dan Vogelbach. Hopefully this ramble makes sense and someone can explain how the heck the AI is choosing the All-Star ballot representitives.

Something seems off. How big is the AS roster? How many teams? Popularity helps decide? Every team needs to be represented? In my aBF I have never seen that although i have seen other oddities.

-What position a player appears at is based on what position they have played the most this year. If they haven't played much this year, we look at some combo of what position they played last year, what position they would be best at, and what position they're listed at.
-Then which player at the position will be on the ballot is some combination of performance, talent level, and popularity. We can't just use simple playing time, since what if your catcher with only 24 ABs was actually the better player, but was hurt for most of the year. We'd be getting complaints about why your better guy didn't make it. And in OOTP 16 we used basically pure talent, but that tended to miss the guys who started hot, or guys playing above their talent levels. There may be bugs in there (while double checking this I found one case what could have listed a guy at a "less valid" position). Also keep in mind that just because a guy isn't on the ballot, it doesn't mean he can't make the All-Star game. When we choose which players get named as backups, that is done almost entirely by current stats, so if a guy is missing from the ballot but is putting up a very strong season, he'll likely still be named as a backup. |

Did Jacob May and Adam Engel both flame out for us? What a shock...

My all-star settings are the default for when you start a MLB Quickstart, I didn't adjust anything there. I understand that there are going to be quirks but this needs to be more finely tuned. I wasn't going to vote for my catcher anyway, but I have a left fielder that is solid, and the same thing was happening where my backup (Jordan Smith) was listed on the ballot instead of the my starter (Brandon Nimmo), and Nimmo has twice the AB's with better stats. I think there is further tuning that needs to be done here.

Once again, in a completely separate league, I'm seeing this issue again. Are there any plans to fix this?
My issue: On the allstar ballot it is listing Jarrod Saltalamacchia as my team representative at catcher for voting, instead of my starter James McCann. Their respective lines are : J.Saltalamacchia : Insignificant/Insignificant 27 AB, 6 H - .222/.400/.259 James McCann : Unknown/Unknown 165 AB, 49 H - .297/.337/.412 And another, I just sent down Tommy Field as he was filling in on the roster while V-Mart recovered from an injury. He spent all of 13 DAYS on the ML roster, and now he is listed as the Tigers All Star ballot representative at shortstop over Jose Iglesias. Again their respective lines : T.Field : Unknown/Insignificant 31 AB, 7 H - .226/.314/.323 J.Iglesias : Well Known/Well Known 176 AB, 49 H - .278/.317/.313 Oh, and by the way, Tommy IS AT TRIPLE A NOW. These are just some more examples from my tiger dynasty. I've got all the default settings for allstar game, scouting, etc. This happens far too often to be ignored. This is not an issue of games played at positions or anything like that from what I'm seeing. PLEASE FIX THIS
