Quick survey..

Who uses 3-d vs the 2-d pics when playing out the games? I play out all my games but use the 2-d. Starting to like using 3-d though. So curious how many use it.. I guess I can't add a poll. fyi..here's my blog.

I use 2D.

I play fictional and I have made field diagrams for all of my teams for the webcast view.

I likely won't switch to 3D until there is an easy-to-use in-game stadium builder.

3D. It feels more immersive to see the game play out in this format.

Admittedly there are a few issues or weird movements that make you scratch your head, but otherwise it's pretty solid.

This is only my opinion. In no way would I seek to impose it upon any other member of this community.

My opinion is, once you have played out dozens . . . hundreds . . . of games, the 3D thing gets tiresome and actually starts becoming an obvious impediment to the rapid resolution of games which is necessary if one is going to play out games AND acquire substantial league history in a reasonable amount of game-playing time.

There, I said it. Put away the pitchforks and flaming torches, please.

Not interested in 3D as I only play out important games. Completely ok with it's continued development but since I grew up with baseball on the radio I don't think it will matter.

For real life games I put the TV on mute behind me, listen to the radio which is about 7 seconds ahead. That allows me to turn around in time to see the play just after it's described.

2D for basically the same reasons as mentioned above.

2D. Once the novelty of 3D wore off after the first week, I pretty much reverted to 2D and never looked back. That might change, of course, with any improvements/enhancements made to 3D in future versions, but right now....meh.

I only "watch" in real time webcast (no in game for me) and really with this aspect of OOTP could get a little sprucing in terms of better functionality. High resolution doesn't go very far here.

It's 2D for me for now. I think 3D is great and love watching the feature develop, but still enjoy the 2D option better. What I prefer about 2D is the faster pace, easier customization (IMHO) and the player names are always on the field. There are other things, but they've been mentioned already.

2D.
But light years ahead, when there is a plethora of fictional and historical ballparks to choose from,
and the 3D has really matured, then maybe perhaps 3D.

2D, for the reasons above. I think the 3D is a good first attempt, but nowhere near where I would be using it.

Thanks everyone...general consesus seems 2-d. Well...I think I'll stick with 2-d too. I accidently set my jersey color to "Custom" in the General Game Options and now can't see the team colors on the little men. No way to change it back.
Plus I take alot of time looking for accurate pics to use for each team...so I'll probably stick with 2-d too. But I love the little bouncing ball in 3-d...wish that was in the 2-d (like in Stratomatic has).

I will stick with 3D as I know that will continue to improve. Once we went to 3D I stuck with it. I played long enough with 2D and have been enjoying the hard work the team worked on in the game.
I bet its close to 50-50% 2D and 3D users.

Both. I alternate among 2D, 3D and watching real time simulation in webcast mode to play out my games. Split roughly evenly. I play a series at a time wnen I sit down to play, and sometimes I'll play one game in each. Using all three keeps things interesting for me.
