Now I know how Indy owners feel
I'm in the last few weeks of my Mexican league and I'm fighting to stay in 1st place with Monclova. I sim 1 week at a time and usally make a few minor lineup tweaks and roster transactions here and there. I got a 34 year old RF in free agency and he's tearing up the league leading the league in BA and OPS. Pretty much my mvp. About a few weeks left I notice I'm starting to lose a few games in a row and see I have a missing spot in my lineup notice my star RF is missing completely from my organization! I'm scratching my head wondering if there was some weird glitch and finally it hit me...some punk major league team bought him from me. Sure enough he's now in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system and is doing lousy. From Mexican League hero to AAA zero. Thanks a lot Pirates.
So I wish either I'd get a nice little email informing me of this transaction (if we get them when we lose/gain players as minor league managers why not in other leagues) OR give us the option to veto such a transaction. I decided not to get him back via commissioner powers since it was actually pretty cool to see that and the majors could stand to see more Mexican players even though it doesn't look like he'll even make it to the show. I still ended up with the first seed but I lost in the the subleague championship losing the series 4-1 to the same Monclova team that came in 2nd in the regular season. Monclova then gets trashed 4-0 by juggernaut Oaxaca in the league finals but they get their revenge by taking the whole thing (including knocking off Oaxaca) in the subsequent international series (an association playoff of all 1st and 2nd place international teams and indy teams) becoming the first Mexican team in my universe to win the International Champions Cup. That's weird, you mean the team sold him out from under you? I assumed a "human team" wouldn't be subject to those kind of auto-sales when enabled as an option for a foreign league.

oh yeah currently when a team wants to purchase a player the other team even if human owned has no say in the matter. Purchasing players should be treated just like the trade screen where you negotiate with money only and can reject the offer if you are team that owns the player or ask for a bit more with the other team either accepting the new terms or changing their mind. In my case I just chalked it up to the owner overriding my decision and shipping him off to Pittsburgh for the cash.

I enjoy Indy and international leagues much more than the majors. When a MLB team buys your player, you will usually receive 250k in money. With that money you will probably be able to double or triple other teams payroll. It's usually a jackpot for me. But yea, no email, no notification, nothing.
Real Mexican league teams do this. Try to sign low, young FA and sell them to MLB teams to make a nice money difference. |
