Lack of power hitters?

I purchased OOTP 17 last week and have been setting up a brand new league. I've simmed from 1980 to 2012, where I'm currently taking over an expansion team. One thing I've noticed is that, compared to previous versions of OOTP, there aren't that many power hitters in the league. There may only be a handful of guys in the league that have a Power rating over 65 (on a scale of 100). In the early years of my league (1980s), there were a good amount of power hitters with Power ratings over 80.

Does anyone know why this might be? I have the league evolution settings for "more/less pitching" and "more/less offense" checked. Might that have impacted this aspect of the game?

Maybe the power ratings are going down because its more evenly distributed throughout the league? Check to see if league wide HR totals have dropped significantly since 1980

A couple questions. Do you mean power ratings or HR totals? Check your PCMs if you mean ratings and the LTMs if you mean totals. Check the league evolution tab in league history to see if the more/less offense evolved.

turn 100% accurate scouting on for checking things.

if it is a historical league there are a few things that could cause what you see. you'll need someone with more experience, if other things don't add up. how it caclulates ratings, is it neutralized , blah blah blah.
