OOTP 16 to OOTP 17 file conversions
Is it just me, or does everyone's file conversions from 16 to 17 take EXTREMELY long? I've been trying to convert an MLB file from 16 that's only 3 seasons old and it's already taken over an hour and still isn't done?

Mine was about 25 seasons long and took only about 15 minutes or so. I'm sure it's dependent on your computer and hard drive speed.

mine takes nearly the whole day and I am on a win X laptop of which is why I decided to return to current day and go forward again. My last season was 2054. Started in 2016 now in 2023
I should note its always taken forever to move my game to new version. New laptop or not didn't make one bit of difference Last edited by r0nster; 07-07-2016 at 07:38 AM. |

Yes it takes a long time. I suggest manually moving the almanacs and images before you import

Come to think of it. I don't save almanacs or box scores. So that probably cuts down a lot on the importing times.

I run an online league that is nearly 60 seasons old. I have test converted it several times (we haven't moved to v17 yet) on the same server while only changing the drive they were stored on and I have found the Disk I/O is the driving force on the length of the conversion.
I ran the conversion with the source league and destination league on a standard hard drive (I'm not sure all the particulars) and it took well over an hour. Later I moved the league to a SSD drive and redid the conversion and it was done in well under 15 minutes. So my personal experience is that no matter how fast of a computer (CPU wise) or how much memory you have the driving force is the I/O provided by the drives the league is on/going to. |
