Young Players fail to improve

I have several young pitchers that have "text ratings" of 'brillliant' but numeric ratings of 2-3-4, etc.

I expected these young pitchers to improve over a few seasons, but they dont. They just sit there with there 2-3-4's.

I have seen establised pitchers in the majors improve --- but not in the minors. -- My minors coach has good pitcher development skills.

The same happens for young hittters.

Whats the deal??? Has anyone else seen highly touted young players grow from 2-3's to 7-8's when they have high 'text' ratings. If so, what did you do to encourage such improvement?

Thanks....

They start out between the ages of 19 and 23 .... thus they are now 22-26 and no sign of improvement.

Sounds normal - some players that are highly touted prospects will pan out, others won't.

Brilliant in anything doesn't guarantee the player will get any better numerically.

Some not improving makes sense ... but none of maybe 8 ??

I ask again -- has anyone ever seen a "highly touted young player with low skill numbers, playing in the minors" actually make significant improvement???

If they are not gaining in the Minors try moving a couple of them to the majors. In my experience I find that players make ratings gains in the majors much better than in the minors as long as they have decent ratings to start with such as 4-6 etc.

If one thing isn't working then try something else!

Also, how are your coaches(if using them) as they can play a role. I have seen a number of cases where players won't improve for a few years then suddenly do, but their minor league stats are generally decent they just don't have "the ratings".

Yes I see them improve in the minors...

I see guys who the minute they get in my system they are getting better every couple of months...going up a level per season..

I've seen other guys take 3 or 4 years to show any significant improvement...and then they start developing fairly rapidly...

And I've seen where guys...don't develop much...then get to around 26 and then start to get their act together...

And you will see some guys never develop....

Overall, with the exception of "possibly" having a quite young player 19-20 or so developing (which may be a player creation issue) I feel that this part of the does a pretty good job. Something may also be said for a "slightly" quicker development overall, though not much.

I enjoy the development aspect of OOTP. Of course things can always be enhanced but as it is I do enjoy it. Some guys develop fast, some never develop, some improve greatly in the minors, and others need to be in the majors.

There is no sure thing!

someone should do some sort of study to find out how often prospects pan out, that would be cool to see
