Background loading images Original Franchises
OOTP has a boring background image while the game loads, so I thought I'd do a series of replacement images starting with the original 16 franchises.
In order to use these, you should: 1) Download the file into your OOTP [version] DATA file 2) Rename the existing background.jpg as OLDbackground.jpg (for example) 3) Rename the new team file background.jpg You'll have to so this each time you change teams.

Philadelphia Athletics
I'll start with the defunct teams, beginning with the greatest sports franchise in the history of Philadelphia professional sports:
The Philadelphia Athletics

St Louis Browns
Next up is, perhaps, the worst team in MLB history:
The St Louis Browns

The Boston Braves are next. A few interesting things about this background:
1) I really, really want a sip of Spahn and Sain and Pray for Rain orange juice. I put the b&w image of the pitchers, plus Vern Bickford along side this great old ad. 2) For aesthetic reasons, I only added the first stanza of the famous diddy. Here's the whole thing: First we'll use Spahn Then we'll use Sain Then an off day followed by rain Back will come Spahn followed by Sain And followed we hope by two days of rain. 3) The World Series tickets are wonderful. Note that you remove a feather for each game. This a press pass and you may not be able to see "WORKING PRESS -- NO LADIES ADMITTED!". One can only suppose why the holder of these tickets did not attend the sixth and deciding game. Perhaps he had an assignation with a lady that day. 4) I got a little artsy-fartsy in the lower right corner by fading the 1914 pennant image over the team photo. That's why it is a little weird, but each photo by itself is bit boring.

Boston Braves
Next up is the Boston Braves dominated, of course, by the 1914 Miracle team and the 1948 pennant winner.

1989 World Series background
I got tired of the shaggy blue softball loading screen, and saw this nifty poster from the 1989 World Series. It is too square to be a good background image, so I added a few pictures from that odd series.
