Missing sounds in 3D play

I have been playing out games in 3D since OOTP 17 was released. All of a sudden, over the past couple of days, all the "field sounds" have stopped playing. The dull roar of the crowd in the background is still there, but no sound of a batted ball, umpire's call, slide, ball popping into the catcher's mitt, etc. And no roar or boo of the crowd on exciting plays. This is happening in all leagues, all saved games, etc. Prior to this happening, I did not make any changes to any leagues, parks, or anything else. The sounds just stopped happening in-game.

EDIT: And, by the way, all of those "field" sounds I list above DO work in webcast and broadcast mode, just NOT in 3D mode. They used to, but just stopped the other day. I miss those sounds.

Has anyone else had this happen? Could you fix it? It's very disappointing, and really diminishes my immersion.

FWIW: I posted this in the bug report column, but received no response. Figured I'd post here in a higher traffic forum to see if anyone has advice or help.

Thanks.

Lost sound other than crowd

I am getting exactly the same problem- it started yesterday for the very first time. I do not understand how this is happening now as we have had no updates for a couple of weeks.

could it possibly have anything to do with the play-by-play speed?

I don't imagine this is anything that we've done, given that it changes without an update. I'd suggest checking your drivers to make sure you're up to date on your sound and graphics drivers. Could also try re-installing OOTP.

Most likely something is causing a problem where with openGL active, we somehow can't init new sounds. I would suggest enabling the trace (File -> Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Write OOTP debug info to file) while playing a game in 3D and sending us that file - it may help tell us where the problem lies.

Thanks, Matt. I updated my sound drivers, and that seemed to do the trick. I'm not sure why they were good one day and not the next, but I'd recommend that step to anyone else having this problem. Such a relief. Well, back to the ballpark, we've got a pennant to win!

I have updated my graphics driver but sound driver is already up to date. Problem is still there. I will have to run the trace file. How can I send this to you to check it?

Glad to say that the sounds have reappeared now that the latest patch has been released. Excellent customer service from the team in trying to solve the issue before the patch was available.

This just happened to me today and I have the latest OOTP version installed. Just as a point of interest, I updated my video driver and the problem was resolved.
