I say this because i think you guys place alot of importance on the aesthetic stuff.

the purge will screw one thing up for sure. your retired numbers will need the new playerIDs. the link to the profile now points to a playerid that does not belong to that player anymore. you can click edit and type in new player id # to fix it.

news articles and such?? i think this is fine - not sure if it has the same outcome as retired players section? the name will remaiin the same, but as with the retired numbers, if the playerID isn't changed in the link, when you click the player it will go to a different profile. you could fix these inthe same way but.... that may take time, lol.

seems avoidable, but... oh well. small potatoes for me..maybe not for you. if you have 50 years of deleted players that don't make the majors, purges will improve speed of simulation - that's just an estimate for 1 MLB league and minors. when you delete 5-10k records, you know you are helping yourself. if you don't delete players not making the majors, it won't help much unless you go centruies maybe? no records to purge etc...

So update. I was able to generate a new schedule in 2046, but it is still continuing from the records and stats of the 2044 season.... Ugh

Seems like your league never rolled over to the new year. If you would like to upload your league files to us (How to FTP files to OOTP Developments - Powered by Kayako Help Desk Software), we can try to see what's going on.

Going back to this, if you don't mind (and not meaning to hijack the thread, but I think it is related to OP), be aware of this, mitchkenn (and others who try it). Always back the game up before purging, and examine the game carefully after doing so but before advancing too far.

That said, this device may be a game saver in the long run. I say this because "if you have 50 years of deleted players that don't make the majors, purges will improve speed of simulation," then it probably is also true that it will prolong the life of your game when the decades mount up.

Just use it with caution!

thanks for the advice. before the purge, i did a full back-up of all my OOTP 17 files onto my external OOTP HD, just to be safe, and have gone about two and a half months into the season, looking at various things when i think of them, edited a few players that i entered (Negro League Players) to get them into the rookie draft ... thus far, things look good. My histories seem correct, as does my Hall of Famers. i didn't have any retired numbers yet, and don't save box scores anymore, so those things aren't in the equation.

but i will look again in the morning and next few days, to be certain. Again, thanks for the tips and heads-up. This site and you guys are terrific and i REALLY appreciate all the info passed along in this forum. Thank-you.

Okay, did some testing with a default fictional league setup.

A league can't be started later than the year 3000. You can enter a later year in the start date but it will always revert to Jan 1, 3000.

I ran into issues in the postseason, with no teams having playoff eligible players because the eligibility date was 1st September 1800 (i could find no way to change this, and forgot to take a screenshot before i progressed further). However, having then deleted the postseason matchups i could progress to 3001 and that season completed fine.

So, it looks like there is no limit, just maybe some issues getting through the first season if a league is started in the year 3000
