Sonny Gray

I started a league last year. Gray is showing as a relief pitcher. I make edits to have him a starter and nothing is sticking. What can i do, if anything?

I'm guessing you aren't managing or GMing his team? If you're managing, or if you're GMing and able to set rotations, then putting him in the rotation and changing his position to starter should work.

Otherwise it's the AI deciding he should be a reliever, and that isn't easy to change without "cheating." You can in that case "cheat" and give him more pitches, making the AI more likely to put him in the rotation. I've had a couple of cases where I wanted the AI to start someone, gone into commissioner mode and editor, noted the player's stuff rating, added another pitch and then subtracted from the other pitches so his overall stuff rating was the same but he had more pitches.

I may have done that I'll estimate 4 times over the years (different OOTP versions) and I think (estimating again) 3 out of the 4 times when I then had "have manager select pitching staff" for the team the pitcher got moved to the rotation.

If the AI manager still doesn't see him as one of the team's 5 best starters, then you'd need a bigger cheat, actually making him outright better, to get him to be used as a starter.

I truly have no idea. In the official db he's rated as an absolute stud, elite starter on any team, any league type.

I cannot imagine his ratings leading to a RP overall rating. I'd guess you might want to upload your league files, as something has almost certainly gone wrong with them that needs to be fixed.

Saw what the problem was. All of his pitches were around 130-140, except his Change up vs Righty. it was 35. Changed it to 135 to mimic all of his other pitch ratings and he became starter

Thanks for all of the assistance.
