Wierd manager hire
I just wrapped up my first season, unexpectedly won WS withBrewers. Being new to series I failed toextend Counsell in season. Well he hasno interest now that it’s the offseason so we needed a new manager. I have my minors set to be hired by asstGM. I override if needed. Anyway I notice the Cardinals who won 88games fired Matheny. Immediately feel he’dbe someone on my list to look at as replacement. Then I noticed he was already hired on tomanage my rookie team. Rather than needto hire I promoted him and now have a quality manager on a 1yr/300ish kcontract.
Why would a manager who could likely get a new job acceptsuch a low gig? I’m overjoyed we got himbut it feels like a bug. He was firedand a day or two later accepting to manage at rookie ball for quarter thesalary. My idiocy of allowing a contract to expire may now benefitme in some weird way. |

On multiple occasions I have hired recently fired MLB managers to work in my minor league system.
I figured it was the great benefits package, beer on fridays and easy going boss that brought them in
